Ah.... a month since my last post... Sorry guys. I'm not meaning to seem like I'm slacking. On the oposite, we've actually started on our seventh scenario. We have a little tweaking to do in 6 But we are officially on 7.

Now I am starting to hit a delema... Our system data is around 8 blocks right now (all we've done in system is preset some spells, enemies, and items. All the dungeons are taking up alot of memory. I have no clue if we are going to go over 15 blocks or not. If we are, I might as well and take the intro scenario off our sprite memory card and onto the first system data card so we can use extra sprites without needing more than one memory card. Then just make the system 2 memory card. I'm sure that even when having 11 blocks of system data, 3 blocks of the intro scenario, and one free block for a game save, that way we will have plenty of room for the second system data withought needing a third. But if, by some work of God, we can squeeze all of the game into 1 system memory card, then I'd prefer to do that (the multiple system trick hasn't really appealed to me. I don't really like the idea of having to save and load everything back up with risk of some people loading the wrong system again and risk having to reset and do it all over again).

I think I might be able to pull it off though. Some of the dungeons ended up taking 12,000 + bits of data (4 rooms of 3000 bits. the biggest one can get is 4000 something) But if I start using some sample dungeons and seeing we have most of our spells, items, monsters, skills, and characters done, I'm hoping to finish system without needing a second card.

Oh well, I'm not going to worry about how much data it takes as long as the game's quality is still top notch...

and BTW, this is the official Half Way Point of our production...

I have a question. is there a way that I can fit the demo onto a 15 slot memory card? and if not, what size card will I need?

Unfortunately the demo is 15 blocks of Scenario Data so it needs one card alone. Another for the System, which is around 8 blocks... and the sprites take up another one by themselves.

So you'd need 3 cards, or one of those multi-card memory card thingies.

We didn't take as much time as we should have with the demo. We were more centered on the full game. I'm afraid that it's a poor sampling. The demo was of the Scenario we currently finished at the time. Also, since we aren't doing anything involving the battle system till the after we finish the story, the fighting sucks pretty bad too.

I just hope it doesn't kill what anticipation there might be for it's finish...

wait, how can you play it if you need 3 cards and you can only have 2 in at a time?

When you start RPG Maker, Have the Scenario Data memory card in slot 1. (It may be system data, I can't remember) After it loads it will ask for the System data (if not scenario) so take out the previous memory card and put the requested memory card in slot 1. Then it will ask for the sprites, so take the current memory card out and then instert the sprite data memory card in slot 1.

Essentually, you can do this all with one memory card if you have the patience to make a few trips to your dex drive.

A few comments and questions.

How did you manage to do that lightning thing at the start of the game?
And the effect where the little symble on the tombstone comes in shady from 4 sides and makes 1.

When you watch the trailer, at the end (The part in the snow place with statue) the cutscene doesn't end and you are able to move around.

How did you get rid of the left hand?

And when I got to chapter one it said "insert memory card with scenario data SOE." I inserted all 3 of my memory cards that I used to download the game and was not able to contine.

OMG, I can't believe I put the Intro Scenario with the sprites!!!
Oh well, Actually the demo was suppose to be of just Scenario3, I should have deleted the Intro scenario and have the system data ask for SOE3 instead of the Intro... Oh well, my bad

But to answer your question, the Lightning is just screen flashes with sound effects. The flash screen option is within the change screen options.

And that symbol melding together is simple. Only one of the symbols is an event, the other three are duplicates. You tell the real event to move to point, and reguardless of where the duplicates are.... they will go to the same position at the same time.

I thought that I deleted the intro scenario, the trailer is something that is still in progress. I honestly didn't mean to post unfinished work. I apologize to anyone else. I promise the finishe product will be much much better.

In scenario data you can go through your menu and find a system data option, here you can turn on and off pretty much anything. either hand, either accessory, random battles, money, ect. I've noticed in alot of people's RPGs they don't limit the left hand, and because they over look it, you can equip two weapons and be twice as strong as the creator intended.

Again... my stupidity. I should have changed the system data to search for the SOE3 scenario data, but must be set to the INTRO scenario data. I'll make corrections and see if Ixzion isn't to bussy to update it for me.

Thanks for your questions, and letting me know my... mistakes. I hope you don't discredit the final product because of how crappy the demo was. I'm actually really glad to get this much feedback...

Yes, every character has is diffrent in their own way. Each person reacts diffrently in pretty much, every situation. When we do a scene in the game, we go over it several several times, make several changes. Towns, we make sure there is a decent population, and make sure the houses match the populous. Also, I can't say there is a single townsfolk who says a one-liner about the weather. Eagle is awsome with text, and honestly, you will need a bit of patience speaking with people.

Personally, I think it's a little much... some people will tell you the history of the town that is equivolant to the book of War and Peace.

Anyway, keep the questions comming... it lets me know you guys are still interested. And trust me, anybody appriciates their work being noticed.

We will actually have two forms of transportation.

First off, I can't use the teleport magic anyway. Because if I did and someone played the new game + mode, then they would go to towns before they should and would throw switches off and who knows what other problems it would cause.

So, towards the mid point of the game we will unlock a place called the Lunashpere. If you've played the demo, you might have picked up that there are two worlds: Earth and Elvenia. The Lunasphere connects the two. Earth and Elvenia are spit up by continents. The Lunasphere will have an access point to each continent on each planet.

Later in the game there will be an airship. So with those two combined you will have access to each planet... each continent of each planet... and be able to automatically fly to whatever place from that continent.

Besides that, I just wanted to do something new with RM1 instead of that terrible transport spell.

We are making really good progress. We are already on our 8th block of the 7th Scenario. If we keep this up, we may be on 8 or 9 by the end of the summer.

The downside to that is after the college semester picks up in the fall, production will drop dramatically. There's really nothing I can do about it either. Last time I went ahead, we ended up pushing the data I worked on from scenario 5 to scenario 7. That forced me to have to work on all the switches for everything I did at that time to match everything else in the game up to that point.

From the way it's going, Eagle says it may very well be 2008 before we finish. I hope he is wrong...

Current Scenario: 7
Overall completion: 55%

Thanks...

Yeah, we will take our time. But we will have to be done within 2008. Eagle is moving out of state to get a doctrin's degree in vetrinary medicine of which you can't find where we are now.

If I have to finish it without Eagle or Clef, I will do what I can... But it won't be near as good of a game as what it could have been. But even if we quit now, I will be proud of what we have done.

Oh, and your avvy is funny. I just finishe watching that series just last week.

yeah, we have the scenes with quite a bit of humor. You just have to find the right time do use it.

Here's a gag that isn't too funny, but might be an okay example: In the game, you meet up with a spirit that helps you learn magic. Each character has their own "guardian angle" and can speak with them at will.

In one scene, the main protagonist gets caught and thrown in jail. When his "guardian angle" asks him what to do he makes a joke about all you have to do is shake the bars of the cell enough because that's the way it always happens in RPGs. (it ends up not working)

It's hard to play it out by just typing it down. But text isn't my forte anyway. That would be Eagle's teritory. Unfortunately he doesn't come here all to often. I'll get his say on it and give you a better answer... if he so deems me worthy (note the sarcasm on the last remark)

OMG, I got the call! I got the job at the plant to be the computer technician! I start the 29th! The first thing my paycheck will go to is getting high speed running at my house.

Anyway, SoE is comming along well. We are almost done with Scenario 7... soon to start 8. But I'm afraid that when the fall semester picks up and I start working full time, that production will slow down to a crawl. I do the best I can with what little time me and Eagle have.

Soon I will be able to keep this thread updated alot smoother than it is now. Also, I get to annoy everyone else here at the Mag... Muwahaha!

I was going over some of the older Scenarios and found things that needed changing.... alot of stuff actually. I want everything to be perfect, though this may extent it's final production time.

We are cramming work in every day. Eagle, while he's at home, and me, after I get off of work.

We are still expecting to be finished by 2008 at the latest.

So far we have put in a few mini-games but are more interested in side quests. We have 4 that could take a good couple of man hours.

Also, I've been working on the Offline web site for the game as well. Nothing flashy. Just basic HTML. The walkthrough that will be accessed through it is comming along nicely. I've added alot of ASCII art for the title, menu's and sub menus.
