Let's say you don't want to make an RPG, and instead you want to make a little movie.

No battle scripts, etc., one that starts just by starting the game.

Is this possible? When the game loads up, there's a cinematic opening for fu-ma (I would guess), and I was wondering if you could do this for your own game.

Yes, you just do take over events through the whole thing. Very simple.

Check out "Tabloid" for an example of a movie type game.

An event that immediately goes from one event to the other. If you make two events and put a takeover event in one, when the event "happens", when it reaches a takeover event another event that you set earlier will start.

Hope that helped. I can't explain things that well.

In RPGM2, "taking over" an event simply controls a different event from the same script.

yep. :)

I bought the game recently... heard that the second one was the hardest but most customizable so I was willing to learn.

...

I would be using content scripts on these, right?

k i bet you've mastered the switch, and event system right??
if you master that than making a game gets easier. the event system in this one is pretty easy to learn. o and yeah rpg2 is pretty hard. ive already master 95% and ive mastered rpgm1 amd number 3 cuz thats the most easiest yet most limited.

I have a Cartoon I have been working on irregularly for over a Year!!

Check the VFX Guide Link in my Signature for Possibilities. That tool is indispensible for animating!

Have fun!

er... well, I've mastered making objects talk. I'm actually very proud of that.

by "switch" I hope that would be the flags, right? not really. I know what they do, just not how or when to use them.

Yes, that is a switch. To use them, you simply add "Data: Flag: [Whatever]=[ON, OFF , or REVERSE]" into your script. This sets it to ON, OFF, or the opposite of its current value. Then, to check for one, either use a "Script Branch: Condition" in a script, or "Flag [Whatever] is [ON or OFF]" in an event (page condition).

okay, cool. that treasure chest thing makes a little more sense. thanks...

now I'm having trouble how to get it to start from "test play->start."

I've tried starting the script with "other->start new game " and placing it in an auto event as well as an equal one.

What? Do you mean making an event start at the start of the game? If so, you put the script in a "System" event and put that event in the "Enter Map" slot of your map (in this case, the first map in the game).

System scripts are scripts that are used automatically by the game under specific circumstances, such as making stepping noises any time you exit the map as well as what happens when you lose in battle.

Normal events, you place on maps. Stuff like NPCs, treasure chests, and those invisible blocks that you use to trigger a cutscene.

well, it's too short to be worth loading (I would call it an extended cutscene)... besides, no max drive (that's what it's called, right?).

as soon as I get decent enough with the system and make a decent enough movie and buy a drive, this'll be the first place I upload it.

I'm calling it FIRST MOVIE. I guess I can... describe it if you want, but it wouldn't be the same.
