Ok in my RPG Maker 1 game I'm trying to make a boat event, but when ever I have my character get on the boat he won't change his graphic....

Can someone tell me what the event would look like? Basically all I want is for my character to change his graphic to a boat when he examines it.

(I've tried making the event to change the graphic but it still won't work.)

You have to go into the party command in the event menu and then change the main character's graphic to the boat, then make the boat dissapear (the boat event).

I'm pretty sure that's what I did, but it may not be...

Just what sort of thing are you wanting to do? Use the boat on a world map, or is it to be some minigame?

What I want is for my characters graphic to change to the boat when I examine it... but for some reason it won't work. I can figure out the rest.

The things I've tried are:

Simply having the graphic change by event.

And

Making a whole new character which is a boat and having the character change to that character.

Neither seems to work.

Is the event doing anything at all?

One thing to keep in mind, if you're doing this for custom world map traveling, is that if you make the lead party member a boat graphic and make the other party members no graphic, it'll be possible for the player to switch party members around, which'll make it so an invisible party member is leading the boat.

Well, the event only works at the beginning of the game when the main character is by himself...

And yes, the event is doing something, the only thing it doesn't do is change the graphic.

Are you changing the right party member?

You should be choosing Party Display >> Main Character, choose the lead character, and select the boat graphic (#48 ), and proceed to repeat the cammand for other party members, except changing them to No Graphic. Then, you want Event Status >> Change Event Graphic, and choose No Graphic. One thing for each, you MUST select OK (there's two OK's for party members) in order for it to take effect.

Make sure the people you're trying to change are in the party.
