The people in the game think it would be nice to have a memorial for the player so they log into his account, take the character to a lake, and set it up for everyone to come pay their respects.

A bunch of dudes decide this would be a great time to ambush everyone so they run over a hill, kill the dead guy's character, and then wipe out everyone who was there to show their respects. They filmed the whole thing and put it on the net for everyone to see.

They know who did it. But they can't really do anything about it legally, it is a game afterall.

That wasn't nice at all. I wouldn't like it if I were the one who died.

I saw the video. It wasn't cool; at it looked like were a bunch of high leveled players who thought they'd show how cool they are to attack people before they even have a chance to defend themselves properly; they're having a funeral, it's called honor, not ambush.

Thats a dishononrable guild, and its a game. No funeral should take place unless its a scene in the game

True on both sides, but it was a tribute to someone who died in real life. I remember there was an on-line game where a girl had died in real life, and she was a real low level character who was an overachiever. We all felt sad, so we, like the funeral, put her in a crypt, and we all dropped items and weapons for a tribute to her "crypt", then we shut down her account for good.

Funerals have been held in MMORPGs in the past, it's a nice form of tribute to a great character who was held by a great person, and then the account get's shut down so the player can be put to rest.

I play MMOFPS games in which ppl dies 3 times every second... I would hate to see them try and make a funeral. Gore.... lots of gore. That's how it would end...

I mostly play capture the flag. But no, not 3 times a second. Not for me anyway. :evil

I don't know how the ppl on my server would react to a vets death really. I know they would do something. Maybe in forums, but I doubt in actual gameplay. All it would take is a slip of someones finger and would set off a rocket in the crowd, once respawned... you can imagine revenge would be a must...

That's probably how it'd go down with me. With my luck, that is. But still, it's sad what happened to that one guy; he died in real life, his buddies tried to host a funeral for him in the game out of respect for him, and the funeral gets ambushed.

That was actually a rather old event..
The video itself is hilarious, as mean as that really is. Though, really, they had it coming to them for setting it up to happen in a CONTESTED ZONE and advertising it ON THE FORUMS.

Personally I think they were idiots for doing it like that. ^.^

While I cannot admit agreeing with the the tactless band's ventures, I can still find enjoyment from a good slaughter on WoW.
It was a fairly well done pwnage on their part.
A tad sloppy, and if they weren't more powerful than everyone else by such a large degree I don't think it would've gone done so smoothly.
But they were, and so it was a bloodbath which I'm sure they enjoyed immensely.
It makes me want to play WoW again. Damn't...
So, they're bastards for the foul play, but it was amusing in it's own right...
I never wish to cross paths with the person who thought of doing it though...Something tells me he lacks a certain degree of conscience.
