I did mine with a full sized VHS Camcorder!

That's why it is so choppy.

My gif files actually look better than the mpg files because I can control the timing of the gif!

If you have good money to spend (unlike me) you can get real equipment...

A camera is all you need to do animation!

Just film one frame at a time and keep your timing consistent (The hard part!) Well... you'll need some stuffed cows too. I can't do Art without 'em!

How do you do one frame at a time?

Pause, unpause, pause, unpause...

It will take you awhile when you are doing something like that frame by frame. Draygone's description of it is pretty accurate

With a camcorder a remote control is almost essential.

My stuff before getting a remote is almost unusable, but was a great learning experience.

The remote makes it easier to worry about timing the pause instead of worrying about shaking the camera because you touched it!

It is more important to keep the frames of uniform length than to keep them as short as possible.

Both are important, but the believability goes completely away if the frames are inconsistent. It just looks choppy (like mine) if the frames are too long. That is why I like making gif files from them. I can control the timing!
