I notice there are places such as Sapphire Blood Studios, and I just can't but wonder, why would you want to be a part of their team? I'd rather make my own game and release it getting full credit. Do they get added bonuses or advertisement if they join up?

Yeah, could someone explain this to me?

I'd say development studios like that are for anyone who only wants to do specific aspects of game development (such as mapping, monsters, etc.) instead of trying to make a full game. Some people don't have the time or skill to create a full game of their own without help.
