i bought a dexdrive and recieved it today. problem is, i didn't know it had a 9 pin serial on it. my laptop only has usb and printer port.
is there anyway i can still use this? also the software was on floppy disc.
i only have cd. i downloaded the v1 software from utilities on this site, but it says make new n64 save ect ect... is it for n64 and psx or is it the wrong software. i went to adio shack to see if they had 9 pin to usb, but they did not, so i got 9 pin to25 that plugs into my printer port, but that did not work, i figured it wouldn't. what can i do?

I'm not sure man, but after I seen this post, I got online and looked at the page that I just bought my dexdrive off of and it says its gonna be only able to plug to COM/Serial ports too. So I guess I'm in the same boat! I'll let you know if I find anything out! [ jtr410 ]

If all else fails, go to this website! I found a Serial port to USB port mechanism online for about $21. Like I said only get it if all else fails. Just keep lookin' around. I bet you could find cheaper (*eBay*)! I found about 60 listings on eBay for them. I also found a couple of pretty cool ones too. Instead of just one serial port plug it has TWO! Yea that means you can hook both a DexDrive up and a MaxDrive at the same time( that is if a MaxDrive requires a serial port though)! [ jtr410 ]

Nope, Max Drive is USB. DexDrive is the only one that requires the 9-pin port.

It'll let you, but it'll corrupt the files. So, don't do it.
