Would you join the army if you were getting desperate for college money?

I could answer that one in sooooo many ways.

I would not join just to get money for college. I would join the military if it were my passion and something I wanted to do with my life.

I'm not in any hurry to get turned in to cannon fodder so "no".
However, I'm trying to join the Coast Guard to avoid the draft, but they give out the college benefits too.

i think the army is a easy way to die if u went into war... i havea friend thats in the navy and he got shot in the arm... but luckily he lived. being in the army be a waste of a lifetime...

im already in the TA, as a trainee officer.

1st: England is NOT gonna call up the TA, they did it 65 years ago and it just didnt work

2nd: i need the money, ive already got 2 jobs in addition to the TA

im prepared to take a tiny, tiny risk to prevent me dropping out of uni.

I mostly agree with Hyper, I would not join the millitary just to get money - there are other ways I could get money. Though I might join it to be in the band but that is all I would want to have to do with the military at all.

There's a pretty slim chance I might join, i'm getting pretty desperate for college money and I need to expand my education.

The military is not a waste of anything. Without a military, we would not be able to defend ourselves nor stop foreign threats. While Mr. Bush hasn't been the best at making decisions, we still need the soldiers. Without a military, there is no freedom.

And without freedom there is slavery. I do agree bush can't really make decisions even though I believe he's just a puppet to some one much more sinister, never the less the arrmy is a good thing to have.

If only for a defense.My cousin/roomy just applied for the air force for that very thing. Or maybe it wasn't the band exactly, but soundboard, or something. Either way, he says he won't wind up near where the war actually will be. (Though just wait until the war comes to us.)

If the war ever comes to the U.S.A. I would immediately join the army without hesitation

Not me, I'd go run and hide. I don't like fighting. Especially the hurting part. I barely made it when I stepped on that one rusty nail. I can't imagine how much more fun a bullet wound would be.

If the war came Here I would have 2 choices run or fight. I like the second answer better. I might not could kill them but I can hurt them

Personally the word 'military' connotates oppression, not freedom.

since i cant shoot straight, theres not much point in having me in an army.

im also not sure how much im prepared to lay down for notional and THEORETICAL ideas of country and so on...

i don't really know where i stand on this issue.

I Would join the army just for one reason, and that reason is to be proud and noble to serve my country. But see it is a good reason for getting to college, and the army does pay for your college intuition, and that's great. But joining the army is probably somethin I would do for the proudness of serving my country no matter what the Painstaking Problems may come my way.

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention, I don't like the idea of hurting other people. You don't shoot me, I won't shoot your. You shoot me, and I'll probably just scream or something.

If I still lived in London, I'd join just like Regal-for money and the basic security of never seeing anything more than training. But in the U.S., quite frankly I ain't that f*ckin patriotic for old glory. If I ever get the cash I'm hoppin a plane to Australia. That's the only place I loved being really. But I couldn't care less about our 'cause' so I ain't wasting my life in that particular fashion.
