I'm not even sure how many will now what I'm talking about...but it's a mind f*ck question for those that do...Choose:

1.Anesthesia
2.Call of Ktulu
3.Orion

Personally I love all of them, it just depends on my mood.

Orion...
and no i have no idea what you are talking about...
if you explained it, it might make the topic a little more open to the public.

The first one, because I haven't seen the other two.

It's one of those things that it wouldn't make any difference if I explained it to you, you have to know it.

Three legacy instrumentals from Metallica..I was confused at first with there 'seen' but I suppose anesthesia could be a movie title. I was just bored and listening to them, wanted a public concensus. But I guess thrash just isn't 'in' anymore...

My mistake, I was thinking Anastasia. Didn't help that the other two kinda sounded like movie titles.

hey hey HEY HEY HEEEEEEY!!!

firstly, its got to be Call of Ktulu. just GOT to be.

secondly, who cares if thrash is 'in' or 'out'? The majority of lemmings jump off cliffs, but that doesn't make it right.

although that may not actually be a real thing, i've never been sure...

dont know why that justified shouting type, but it did.

Goth: sell-outs...explain as I do not want to explode for no reason and that topic always gets me close-justify it and we'll see.

Regal: FINALLY! I was begining to wonder...I mean I knew Metallica wasn't the 'thing' anymore but I figured someone would know what I mean. Ktulu...it has it's advantages. It pertains most of all to the roots of Metallica music, it's thrash with soul. That has brilliant screaming on it, but there are indeed times when I feel the need for the half-jazz/half...? of Orion. And feeling Burton in his bass-solo is great too...so I can never decide but at least I got a vieable response. And I make it a point not to care about whether thrash is in, but it's obvious by my whole 1 response that it isn't.

heh. My metallica favourite has always been The 4 Horsemen. Its not the most popular among the 'bad in black' nu breeds that are strangling metal, but its my favourite in terms of lyrics and... sheer anger.

I could go on for hours about the black-dressiong kids who are RUINING METAL, but i would die in the process.

and dont even get me started on emo kids.

ok, justify it.. well i prolly can't but it just seems like they are more and more catering to the people regal just mentioned, obviously you have heard their newer albums, especially St. Anger - even their music is becoming more produced by their popularity and their label. back when it was just the music video thing it was understandable because it is indeed hard to go around doing shows all the time, that i can see but when it start changing the music to cater to the masses instead of just being the music they make it starts to get... well.. fake. don't get me wrong im not anti-metallica or anything in fact i quite like metallica, its just that their recent music has changed, not neccessarily for the bad, like it doesn't sound like sh*t or anything but its changed to cater to the masses and to get money from as many people as possible... it used to be about the music itself.. more to make their point than to please the people.

yeah, shes got a point. I dont really like St. Anger, it's noise taking the place of style. And i cant find even one guitar solo.

i blame it on the new guy.

Well I certainly see your point...but I have a different take.

First, St. Anger is a good album-Load is a good album-and Re-Load is a good album. It's just a matter of how extensive your spectrum is. St. Anger it's true is a branching that beats out even Load/R-Load but if you go into it expecting Seek & Destroy your f*ckin' any chance of enjoyin it. I got off on the raw agression of St. Anger, and well if Kirk didn't wanna do guitar solos who am I to say he has to. After all think about it, this time they were Really Pissed, sure they had good lyrics in the others and personal issues riddled their songs but they didn't have REAL AGRESSION in the others. And if you aren't going to let them go outside the mold, then how are you ever gonna get Unnamed Feeling (favorite track), or Shoot Me Again? That album had feeling, and I don't think alot of people got that-they just wrote it off as jumpin hoops for corporate big-wigs.

My view as a Musician (Drums, Bass guitar) is that you do NOT keep playing the same style for 10 years much less 25. You evolve, your means of expression changes because YOU are changing-and because I have an inordinarily broad scope of enjoyable music I took it all in. My favorite cds will always be of the Kill 'Em All through Justice but I cannot deny that I don't pop in Load and jam with The Cure, or The House That Jack Built. It's an interesting combiation of Thrash, Blues, and Alternative. So after too much said I say: how can you blame it on the new guy Regal? Rob didn't even write it with them, he was hired after the album was even released.

*is outfanned*

hmm...

i agree with you about the sheer agression of St Anger, it sometimes makes the others look a little tame. But aggression is not what i look for in Metallica.

The thing i like about Metallica is that its intelligent metal. Its synchronised and coordinated... its controlled. Dual guitar solos, bass and guitar in unison.... thats the thing i love about them.

And thats the thing that St Anger loses out on. Some of the songs sound like they made it up on the spot... and while i cant tell Hammett to solo, id have liked to hear some new riffs...

I think that St Anger is... undistinguished. I do like the Unnamed Feeling, and i love... i think its Sweet Amber...but i think this album places last in my metallica ranking.

just my opinion though.

you are right, they have changed style as any band does but for some reason - i don't know why, it seems like they have gotten very much caught up in the media more than they were which just makes them seem a bit more fake and all the teenieboppers are like omg metallica, lets all be cool and like metallica rock on metallica guys omg omg lol - and it kind of puts me off. it really isn't their fault that they are in the popular crowd now, the whole MTV thing always puts me off bands, even ones that were once damn good. its not that i don't like st anger even - its pretty and stuff but it feels like there is something missing i think. maybe that is just me though.

Location: Out there. In that place. You know, with the "thing"
Metallica...

We are talking about the band that is against any thing open scource, sold out AGES ago, and on top of that haven't produced "original" material for the past OH LETS SEE, 10 YEARS, right?

Because if I'm mistaken, please forgive my confusion.

I was done with Metallica when I heard their rendition of "Turn the Page." Sorry, YOU FAIL.
