I want to know what "retro" tracks made it into the game. Especially which "retro" Rainbow Road made it in.

EDIT: On second thought, better to be surprised come next month. Except for Rainbow Road. I need to know that one as soon as you're able to find out.

No retro Rainbow Road made it in.

But otherwise, the game is hot.

No retro Rainbow Road? WTF? Were they too worried that fans would complain that they didn't get their favorite Rainbow Road or something? Well contrats to Nintendo, 'cause I'm complaining that I'm not getting the SNES Rainbow Road!

The good news is, I still own the SNES Mario Kart, so I still get to play the place in all its glory.:)

I like this game a whole bunch. Ixzion schooled me around quite a bit, but that last match was totally unfair, with the Bones.XP

But yes... I just did the one cup with the Airship stage in it... I LOVED it. Bullet Bills and wrench moles ahoy. That was a really nice touch.:D

*nostalgia*

Yeah, they really outdid themselves with this one! I really liked Double-Dash, but I think this one's better (minus me being unable to play with other "human"-controlled players in battle mode). Double-Dash had maybe only two places with a cool gimmick. DK's place with the big cannon blast, and...that's all I can think of. But THIS Mario Kart... Wow.

There's Waluigi Pinball, with giant pinballs going down a hill with you until they and yourself finally reach the table with bumpers and paddles, Tick-Tock Clock with the rotating gears that you have to travel across, Airship Fortress with the "wrench moles" (minus the wrenches), bullet bills, cannon blast, Bowser Castle with the several traps including the spinning log that you have to drive across without falling or being knocked off, and Rainbow Road with it's corksckew and loopdy-loop (a first for a Mario Kart, I believe). And when there isn't some fancy gimmick going on, the places are often fantastic to look at, even for a DS game.

And of course, even though I'd rather play against real players, computer players in Battle Mode still rocks. I really wish the idea was used in the other Mario Karts.

Oh, and speaking of nostalgia, there's actually several places that seem to be based off of old levels. There's the Figure-8 stage with those colored platforms remniscent of Super Mario 3 (like in level 1-1), there's the desert leve's Angry Sun and the pipes you see in the World 7 desert maze, and of course the airship level. Which I was a bit disappointed that it didn't remix the old Airship theme from Mario 3.
