I called up to my local gamestop and they have a copy of RPGm 2 used for $15, and a new copy of rpgm 3 for $50. I was thinking about getting RpgM2 until after the holidays.

My questions though.

On average, how much space does it take up? Let say I was to make a game with 3 -4 fields, and 5 towns, with a dungeon in each field.
Do I absolutely need to find the RPGm2 hint book, or is their an equivelant FAQ somewhere on the net for it. I heard that the rpgm2 was harder so I am a little skeptical about it, but if it is more powerful, then I am sooooo willing to learn.

How do the characters control when walking through your creation, Up is up down is down. Or left stick moves direction, and right stick moderates forwards and backwards?

Is it true that your party does not show up on the battle screen? I thought I had read somewhere that they did not.

Also, If one of you has a copy of 3 that you are not wanting (I hear some folks complaining about it), I would gladly trade you one of my games for it, but please serious people only. I don't want to get ripped off. I will want your phone number. Thanks.

Anyway, thanks for all the help guys!

1. RPG Maker 2 takes up a set amount of space. It's about 2.5MB on the memory card.

2. The RM2 Strategy Guide is a great idea. Also, we have a full RM2 FAQ in the Resources section of the main site that should help. Maybe try that FAQ first.

3. RPG Maker 2 is the most powerful RPG Maker (besides RMXP for PC) and is the hardest of the three.

4. One stick or directional pad controls all movement.

5. Your party doesn't show up on the screen in battles.

And I don't know who wants to trade off their RM3. :p

Thanks for the quick reply. I am excited about getting into this. I just can't make up my mind which one to get. #3 looks very nice, but I read a lot of folks complaining about the limitations. Hard decision.

Again, thanks for letting me pester you all here.

Well, people complain about the limitations, but it really depends on what type of story you want to make. If want some type of Final Fantasy-calibur game, then you should get into real programming instead. :p

Besides, limitations are what RM games are all about. Part of what makes all of this so much fun is when you do something that is normally impossible with the software.

And no problem. Ask al the questions you need.

RPGM2 could be used to make a Final Fantasy-calubur game, though of course not in terms of graphics.

Of course, you have to be pretty skilled in order to make such a high-calibur game, along with a whole lot of patience.
