What do you think of when you see new mario games? Do you think they will ever make a gta style mario game? Even if it is for kids it will most likely will be replaced with water guns or paintball, the cars might be go carts the drive in. I wonder why isn't luigi in more games like mario.

Mario 64 and especially Mario Sunshine are probably the closest you'll get to a GTA style Mario game.

Besides that, if they made an actual GTA clone starring Mario, you can bet I'd be yelling SELLOUT!

If all you mean by 'GTA style' is an open ended world, I wouldn't call Nintendo sell-outs for that, I'd tell them that they're moving in the right direction. I think almost every type of game could benefit from this.

I wouldn't spend my time on Mario, I think it was fun and some-what revolutionary in it's time but there's more potential with other material. But, if they are going to do it anyway . . .


THIS IS WHAT I'D LIKE TO SEE DONE:

I would take the essential things about mario (characters/setting/style) and throw all other limits out the window. I would make it somewhat more realistic (maybe a little less deformed, maybe a more detailed but still cartoon-ish look, etc.)

I would write a more detailed/longer story.

I would definitely have an open-ended world. The country/town/island whatever, you could walk around it all at anytime, talk to people, use go-karts/pipes for transport, etc.

I would have somewhat of a combat system (more moves) and some skills as well as magic (fireball anyone?).

So that it would basically be a better super mario RPG kind of game in an open ended world.

The biggest thing I would expand on would be the jumping. To have tons of different types of jumps and maneuvers, like wall-running and leaping to and from different heights and surfaces and angles (all well animated) and more ways to attack enemies (like throw) in a much bigger and more detailed Mario 64 kind of world would be awesome.

I think in Mario 64, Mario could walljump. I think Nintendo needs to go back to the original Mario 64 formula and make a new game, cause Sunshine wasn't my cup of tea.:X

Put it back in the Mushroom Kingdom. And the closest you get to story with Mario is SMRPG, the two Mario Paper games, and the GBA and DS RPG games with Mario and Luigi.

I love the Paper Mario games. Also, Nintendo has said their next Mario game will be called New Super Mario Bros. for DS. It will be alot like the origional Super Mario Bros. except with new levels and charcters.....and WAY better graphics(judging that the origional was on the NES.

Yup, I've seen videos of it in motion, and it looks pretty great. I just hope they bring back the Koopalings.

I think they shouldnt make it more realistic, but a little more... shall I say "hip"? Sonic went somewhat realistic, by having human characters and such, but it makes for an ugly comparison between the animal and human characters.

They should also make Mario change his outfit a bit aside from the hat, overalls are a little out of date

Videogames shouldn't be "hip". Things were better when developers weren't trying to make games to appeal for the masses. Casual gamers were almost nonexistant, so that they could make games harder.

They need to make a super mario game with more creativity and a very good gameplay mechanics. It would be a shame that mario would have to move using 6 different button combination.

Yeah, but back then they had limited graphics to work with, Mario's gameplay is there, so whats left is the presentation. Mario 64 and Sunshine are perfect examples of a game for casual and hardcore gamers, it takes a casual gamer to beat it, but a hardcore gamer to get every shine/star. I often get bored when playing a game like Mario Party and such because the presentation is so old, but I really dig how strikers changes there outfits and makes them a bit meaner. I am giving suggestions that me, a Mario fan would like to see from the franchise.

Mario Party is getting old....for crying out loud, they have a 7th now! I betcha by the time I am 30 there will be a Mario Party 20!!
