I'm sure all of you has abandoned at least one RPG Maker project without finishing it. Well, I have failed and abandoned 6 Rpg Maker projects without finishing any of them. It's mostly due to lack of motivation. I'd like to tell you all about what these games would have been
Game #1 Name: My First Game Platform: VX What the game was about: This was mostly just me experimenting with Rpg Maker VX, testing out how teleportation, dialogs, choices, gameovers, battles, shopping and other things worked. What got made: A short introduction. The king sends the hero to defeat some monsters. And if you refuse to help the king, you get sent to jail, and it's game over. The King gives him a Ruby. You used this Ruby to enter the Castle, where The Queen gives the hero some battle training, and a shop. Then the hero goes north to fight monsters. But all that he can find there is a casino with 3 mini-games: Roulete, Slots and Find The Star. What was planned: uhh... i didn't plan much ahead...
Game #2 Name: World Minus Ten Platform: VX What the game was about: A school kid from World 357 gets teleported to World Minus 10. In order to get back to his own world, he has to go throught 6 dangerous areas to find a portal back to his own world. What got made: Just half of Chapter 1. No advanture has even started yet. The school kid lost his mobile. He goes back to school to find it, but gets interupter by his friend who asks him to find some fish for him. So he goes to the nearest town - Northtown - and does a trading quest to get fish. He meets a girl in the process. What was planned: After getting fish for his friend, he would finally be able to go inside the school and lok for his phone. Once he finds it, he can go home. Then he would have to do some Puzzle Chores, and then he and the girl he met would go explore a cave, where the girl would get trapped, and he would go into a mine to find a gem to free her. And then he would find a portal that will take him to world -10. In World -10, he would need to go throught a field - an introduction area, and then: a Snow Area, A Jungle Area, An enourmouse town, and Space. to find a gem - Saphire, Emerald, Topaz, Ruby - in reach, adn then go to the Desert, and use the gems to get inside a pyramid, where he can find a portal back home. Unfortunatly, it would only take him to a beach in World 356, so he has to use a Metal Detector to search for some burried treasure that he can use to buy a ship and sail back to world 357. And there was some rainbow mansion, some random caves that required a Ship or Airship to reach. And also there were going to be hidden Dragon Eggs hidden throught the game, that you can use at the end of the game to get prizes. Unfortunatly, 2 of the dragon eggs at the beginning of the game are hidden in such clever way that there's absolutly no way anyone could figure it out. But i was to young to understand that at the time...
Game #3 Name: Weird Adventure Platform: VX What the game was about: A guy wakes up in a place he does not recognize, not remembering the events of yesterday. He finds out he has signed up to be a test subject and help a Mad Scientist test his inventions. What got made: Intro cutscene, hero's bedroom, beginning of the staircase that you climb down What was planned: Puzzles with inventions. Like boulder pushing, spring jumping... I really don't remember much planning...
Game #4 Name: Quest Gold and the RPG School Emerald Platform: VX What the game was about: Quest Gold is a guy in 2-BE-A-VG World, a World where videogame characters and NPCs live before they become part of any videogame. He finds out that he was accepted to Rpg School, where is going to learn how to be an RPG Character. What got made: Intro cutscene, first few rooms of the first challange of their L.I.W.O.R. (Live in World Of Rpg) lesson What was planned: The game was going to be kind of a Harry Potter parody, paroding the story, and the gameplay of the Harry Potter videogames, with Challanges where you collect Challange Stars, and exploring the school when you have free time. Quest Gold would become friends with Kevin Shield and Zelda <don't remember her last name>. Everything would be normal, until their Menu&Hud teacher would get kidnapped by somebody from another world... And... Some adventure... Quest Gold would learn to be an adventurer, Kevin A fighter, and Zelda a Witch... Potion making system (kind of like cooking system in other games... trade ingredients for a potion...) Uhh... Oh yeah, the School Emerald is kind of... a parody of the Sorcerer's Stone... But there was going to be a plot twist that this Emerald was stolen from Sonic The Hedgehog, and that is why the first Sonic Game had 6 Chaos Emeralds instead of 7...
Game #5 Name: Crappy Quest Platform: VX What the game was about: The hero "somehow" ends up in Crappy Kingdumm, where the King sends him to collect 77 of his Diamonds, instead of just 7. But hey, they can be found really easily, there's like 7 in the introduction area, so it's not that bad. What got made: The introduction area, and the first few rooms in the next area. Also, a huge map of the world created in Paint. You would be able to walk across the map at the end of the game. What was planned: An intentionally crappy game, where you explore an intentionally crappy world, that's only purpose is to be crappy. You would explore 8 areas - Entrance Land (introduction), Garbage Land (focused on terrible mapping), Crazy Land (focused on weird eventing, random stuff and crazy logic), Rain Land (where it's always raining, eben indoors), Sky Land (an area in the sky. Also has Heaven in it), Wait Land (you have to wait 10 minutes in 1 room, 20 minutes in another room, and 30 minutes in the third room), Door Land (parody of DOOR THE GAME), and Final Land (an area underground with all the crazy stuff combined, and also Hell). Also a few more areas in Crappy World that are outside Crappy Kingdum. Did i mention intentional typos?
Game #6 Name: Legend Of Dream World Platform: VX ACE I'm actually not going to talk about this one in detail, because that would be spoilery for Draygone, who agreed to do an LP of it
