We knew it was coming when the 2k3 release trailer teased at it.

http://gematsu.com/2015/08/rpg-maker-mv ... ced-pc-mac

What grabs my attention the most is that it supports touch-screen control if played on devices that support it. I don't know if that means you can put touch-screen controls in the game, or if it just means for building the game.

Also includes a built-in side-view battle system.

(By the way, RPG Maker 2000 is out now, too.)

Excellent! Might get me back into RPG Maker. But I'll wait for a sale on this one. I don't want to feel like my money was wasted.

Touch based controls are probably meant more for laptops/desktops with multi-touch support in the trackpads. I wonder if games can be built for mobile. That could make things interesting.

The article shows a smartphone being used.

Also, I've lost interest already. It looks too much like VX and VX Ace. Not that they look bad, but I get a strong sense of "I've used this already".

No, but I've played enough games made with them. In fact, the earliest was Spiritis, and that was in Season 3 of my let's plays. So here I am in Season 8, and they announced an RPGM that looks like stuff I've been let's playing for years.

I shamelessly copied your post and made it an article. :p

Good to see new RPG makers coming, though.

Though the RTP seems similar, that's not really too much an issue for me. I wanna make my own custom graphics, I want my stuff to stand out really.

What's really interesting is what is under the hood. It has also been hinted the 2 GB filesize means something big- either a huge RTP or maybe movie capabilities.

The BIGGEST thing is that I believe they are dropping Ruby for Javascript.

Strange choice in using JavaScript, but it's not like I script anyway. I just plunder them.

I was actually thinking of making the article myself, but was going to wait until there was a little more information on it. =P

So, apparently, instead of a new version of RGSS, RMMV will use HTML5 and Java. Interesting...

From what I saw in the trailer, we can now write descriptions for switches and variables, making creation process slightly easier.

The 3 layer mapping is interesting too...

It's nice to know that I should be able to use my Mac to make things with it. I also like the bigger sprites on the higher resolutions.

The main thing about Javascript means I can pester Ixz and Mose for stuff haha. I also forgot to mention how much I appreciate the 3 layer system returning. I don't have to parallax maps now for detail. Blessed be. And, having the side battle system by default means not having to fuss with scripts for such a simple thing.

AND that higher resolution size! I'm glad they released that info. For those curious, the most important thing is this- the old tile square size was 32x32. It is now 48x48, so that's what the default character size is.

This also means I get to revamp my custom sprite stuff again haaaa. Not like I ever finished every direction set yet. I like my most recent one that's kinda chibi but not, and would fit in the new size nicely and can be more detailed.

This makes me wanna definitely get another Macbook Pro eventually! I have my PC for gaming, I feel like Mac has super durable laptops(STILL have my 2009 MBP, my asus has a broken hinge on the left in less time sadly). Would be nice for the living room and while in bed to work on RPGM stuff.:O

I have a 2009 iMac that still works pretty well (obviously can't handle rigorous stuff that comes out these days in gaming). I like using it and it uses less power, so it'd be a good machine to work on an RPG Maker game. Also, with Pages, all my documents worked on there are very easily transferable and i can pick up where i left off on documentation from my iPhone to iPad to the Mac.

Now here's two questions that I have to ask about RPG Maker MV: will they be available for the iPad Mini 1 and if so either way, will we be able to create RPG games on the iPads or iPad Minis on the go? I'm just wondering.
