After getting Platinum God in Binding of Isaac, I pushed through the rest of Evil Within. Unfortunately, the story in the game is much like the hallway in Final Fantasy XIII. By the time it opens up, it's too late. The gameplay was... alright, at best. And the big payoff:
The entire game ended up being The Matrix. Your plugged into the world and you are basically fighting against an evil version of Neo (Ruvik).

Out of 15 chapters, you don't find out anything till chapter 9. And some of the chapters after are a single boss fight that's over in 5 minutes. So not only was the story entirely lacking until the last bit of the game, the story provided was just... not that good either. The only other survival horror I have played that is worse than this game is Resident Evil 6. I really hate that I couldn't get into it. It was SUPPOSED to be amazing. The father of the survival horror genre, Shinji Mikami, made this game. But it was just so sub-par.

On the other hand, I picked up a bunch of stuff from the Steam summer sale already. Dartksiders 1 and 2 were like 3 bucks a pop. So I picked those up. Started playing 1 right after I beat Evil Within. And holy crap. I love this game. I had forgotten just how good it is. It's basically a Zelda clone with a robust combat system. The biggest problem with the game has to do with there being no windowed mode. I had to find an external program to do this. With as often as I click between windows, it's required I be able to do so without my computer throwing a fit every time I alt-tab out. But yeah, it's great going back to something like this after Evil Within.

So, I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy Record Keeper. I think this is the mobile game I have played for the longest time.

I downloaded the 2nd DLC pack for Smash Bros and played a bit of it yesterday. I have been meaning to get back into Smash, but Splatoon happened.

*Jealous*

On a similar note, I tried out the DLC characters on Smash yesterday (including Mewtwo) and definitely have to say Roy is the easiest to adjust to using while Ryu definitely takes some getting used to. Lucas remains pretty much the same as in Brawl and Mewtwo still sucks.

Been a pretty quiet week for gaming as plenty of things popped up.

The only game I completed this week was the Platinum trophy for LEGO Jurassic World (also saw the movie this weekend and enjoyed it) and got both EarthBound and EarthBound Beginnings off the VC.

Otherwise progress has been limited to slow and steady on both Dangranronpa 2 and finally getting started on Magna Carta 2. Being sick didn't help and I did take 1 evening to help a friend with his donation stream by joining some online games of Smash WiiU and Mario Kart 8.

It was almost one of those weeks where I didn't beat anything, but I cleared the main levels of Mighty Switch Force HD on WiiU while waiting for Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) to finish downloading it after I bought it. Also bought Tappingo and Tappingo 2 off the 3DS eShop and do have to warn that, if you like puzzle games, they are very addictive.

Most progress has been on Magna Carta 2 and Danganronpa 2. I'm pretty much 1/3 through the former and 1/2 through the latter. Progress in general has been slower though as I've been taking time normally used for gaming to start watching some TV series I grew up with but never saw all of, starting with M*A*S*H.

Since last I posted, I've finished Darksiders 1, and then started and finished Darksiders 2. It's amazing how similar and different they play. And after, I long for the last two games. Unfortunately THQ has closed up shop and was bought out by Nordic Games. And they don't seem to be too interested in the IP at the moment. It's a real shame, because honestly Darksiders 1 and 2 are some of the best games I've played. Definitely top 10 of the previous generation.

After finishing Darksiders 2, I ended up playing Hand of Fate. It's this super weird card game, hack and slash, text based adventure. It's also an amazing game. The narrator is surprisingly aware of everything that happens and will comment on it. A lot of the time, he has a good bit of sass to go along with it. I recently beat story mode and ended up buying the DLC, which adds classes to the game. The way plots develop in the game is really interesting. You have cards laid on a table in front of you in a pattern. These are kind of dungeons. You flip them over as you reach them. Sometimes they are events that require you do something. Doing so will award you a token from this card that work a lot like pack in like Hearthstone. They will contain a few things, but also the next card that would progress the plot in that storyline. You can put that card in your deck to run across on another run through. It creates this really interesting and unique progression, and I love it. I'll probably be playing this for a while even after having beaten story mode. There's an endless mode with infinite floors. With the job classes from the DLC, it should stay fresh and fun for a good while.

Greetings from my Wii U! Because I really don't want to use my grandparents' 10-year-old machine.

While my computer is visiting Lantis, I decided to play Earthbound Beginnings. I just cleared off the railroad tracks.

So far, the game isn't as hard as I heard. I died a little at the cemetary, but it helped that I keep my experience when i lose. Actually, battles started to get easier after the cemetary. Partly due to accidental grindind due to exploring and getting lost. Also because the only way out of the mystic world is through a monster-infested cave, and I had to go there more than once thanks to there being no ATM in the mystic world. And I've had to make more than one trip back home due to that rocket-kid's town not having an item-storage facility that I can find.

Honestly, this game is more inconvenient than hard. Though I imagine the second fireworks factory would've been more difficult had I not gone back to that mystic town for some fire-resisting equipment. I will say that asthma attacks really suck.

Also, <3 skunks. Too bad I gotta SMAAAASH them. =P

Fayorei and I both decided to participate in this year's Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta where a bot randomly chooses one job from each of the four crystals and then you are forced to use those four jobs and only those jobs for the remainder of the game.

I started off with Monk chosen as my Wind Crystal job, and had a pretty breezy time running around punching everything with all four characters. By the time I reached the Water Crystal though, things were getting messy as I had no way to heal other than potions and no way to deal elemental damage.

From the Water Crystal, Mystic Knight was chosen, so now I have a way to deal elemental damage, but still no way to heal myself.

Things were getting really dicey in the Fire Ship, where despite my mystic knights using Ice Sword and Build Up for tons of extra damage, I almost lost to the flame monster boss.

And then came the escape from Karnak Castle... I somehow managed to make it out, grabbing all but two treasure chests in a single try, but man was it close. I defeated Iron Claw with no potions remaining, only one or two phoenix downs, and my entire party hanging on for dear life.

For the Fire Crystal, my chosen job was Bard, which I've honestly never used before, so that should be interesting, but sadly, you don't get Bard until you go to Crescent Island, so I have to keep my characters as Monks and Mystic Knights until then.

Overall though, it's been super fun so far. I've only ever beaten FFV once before, and I don't think I'm very good at the game, but being forced to stick to certain classes (No White or Black Mage sucks) is really interesting; I never thought I would need to stock up on so many potions, and I definitely never thought that I would love to have a Chemist in my party.

Sounds like it really makes the game a challenge, Myoky, but a fun one, especially if you're doing it alongside a friend (I assume you meant Fay is doing the same thing, but alongside you instead of with you on 2-player). I wish you and Fay the best of luck in trying to save the world from X-Death as ... a band of heroes who know but only four sets of job skills. :)

Yeah, Fay is playing separately and her adventure is a much more tedious one. Her first job was White Mage which meant that until she got the water crystal, all four of her heroes were stuck doing minimal damage and simply outlasting enemies through healing. Then for her second job, she got Time Mage, which is only a minimal increase in damage output.

That sounds kinda fun. :D
I wanted to try it but
1) I've never gotten too far in FF5, so it would be almost a blind run for me
2) I thought my brother had that one, but he has FF3 and FF4 so... *shrugs*

I've been mostly playing Guild Wars 2 and a bit of Smash Bros. I'm almost done with All Star Mode. (Just 9-10 more characters to go.)

I played and beat Shovel Knight a few days ago. It's a wonderful new-retro game. It feels like someone took the sensibilities of the NES era and made a game that feels modern. Well worth the price of admission.

Got my third party member and reached Youngtown in Earthbound Beginnings. I actually tried the haunted mansion in Spookane first, but the enemies there were kicking my tail. Granted, the enemies on the way to Youngtown were no cakewalk either, but manageable. Heck, I'm able to survive the train tunnel at this point.

Kinda wish my third party member had more HP, though. I've kept telling her to Defend Defend Defend, but now with the enemies as strong as they are, I have to take a chance and use her PK Beam 2. On that note, her other PK 2 spells are weak by comparison. Unless I find an enemy that's strong vs. beam, I don't see myself using those others.

Also, found one of those pink cones in a cave near Youngtown (which I just realized is "young" because it's full of kids), but I couldn't do anything with it. If I need that journal like before, I don't have it with me. I hope there's an item storage place in Youngtown.

Still at only three out of eight music notes, by the way. I know one is held by a sleeping dragon I can't wake yet, and another in that mansion. I've explored most of the world map at this point. I wonder if I missed any.

Been a pretty good week so far as I've managed to eke out more progress on Magna Carta 2 and am approx. halfway through the game.

I've also beaten Danganronpa 2's main story and am working on finishing up the Platinum, which requires getting 15 endings on the extra Island Mode (thankfully you can get up to 5 per run) and purchasing the remaining items in the gallery after reading the "what if" story that changes up the events of the first game.

Finally took the time to play through at least the main game of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and have my blind stream of it uploading daily over the course of this week.

Also managed to finish all of the puzzles on the first Tappingo and will be moving to the 2nd before long.

New acquisitions this past week have been Ar nosurge Plus and Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth 3 on Vita. I don't expect to be getting any new games for about 2 weeks unless something is released on digital that I didn't catch.

I finished Wind Waker HD. I wouldn't consider it my favorite Zelda game, or the best one I've played, but it was good. I didn't find the Triforce shard quest as tedious as I thought it would be, it was actually quite enjoyable. The sailing in the game wasn't riveting, but I enjoyed charting the ocean and discovering new islands.

Speaking of that, Zelda I mean, I am getting my ass kicked by the dragon boss of the sky city dungeon in Twilight Princess right this moment. No SK the Dragon Slayer am I, tonight.

EDIT: Never mind. It helps when you're not an idiot and forgetting basic principles like auto-targeting.

I have conquered the Cave of Ordeals in Twilight Princess on my first shot. Onward to the final dungeon. If I can handle three Darknuts at once without dying, I like to think the final boss (we all know who he is) can't be much tougher.
