Okay, everyone. Now that I finished Final Fantasy 6, it's time to move on to Final Fantasy 4 (aka FF2 in the USA). So to start things off, here's what happened:

It started off in a castle in the town of Baron. Cecil teamed up with Kain and headed for a misty cave. At first when I got there, I was confused when I saw the words "Go Back..." in the text. Did this mean I had to do something first? Apparently it took me a second trip to realize I didn't. Then came a boss fight that reminded me of the Whelk fight in FF6 because you actually don't attack it's other form. In the next town, an earthquake struck during a battle and cause Kain to disappear. Could this mean Kain has been killed? I guess we'll find out next time. And then to wrap things up came this battle with four Zombies that felt like it'd go on forever because the battle is so slow.

That's all for now.

Cecil's attacks cannot harm zombie-type enemies. You have to hit them with magic.

Overall, FF4 requires a bit more strategy than FF6, especially in the beginning.

You also missed an important town. But the old man in the cave probably already told you that.

Was that before the Misty Cave? If so, I might have passed it up without knowing.

So it all adds up now. Here's what happened:

So the town I missed was Kaipo. I went there and found Rydia. And it seems that old man in the cave was Tellah. Both joined my party and most of today's progress was progressing through the watery cave. Eventually I got out and the next stop is some town starting with a D. Although I find it interesting that Cecil can't use magic.

That's all for now.

Damcyan.

Unlike FF6, where everyone can eventually use magic, in FF4 everyone in the party has their specific class and roles. Rydia will be your primary magic user for the next little while.

A tip: Most undead enemies are weak to fire and most aquatic enemies are weak to lightning.

Time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

Upon leaving Damcyan, our primary focus this time was the Altion Cave in search of the Sand Ruby. A new party member showed up where mostly what he could do was Hide and Show himself. In my opinion, I think that's rather useless. But the rare times he can fight allows him to at least do something. Also, due to lack of items, Cecil had to fight Altion on his own. But he managed to win. I'm hoping I'll find more items in the future so I can keep Rydia alive.

That's all for now.

Edward is kind of difficult to use. The key to keeping him in battle is to keep his health up. He only hides if his HP gets low (or if you force him to). Which is an annoying trait, and is why a lot of people don't like him. I like him, though, because his weapons can cause status effects.

There's also a fun little bug that allows Edward to remain permanently hidden, but it isn't overly useful as he's intended to be a support character.

Hey, guys. Sorry it's been a long time since I've posted here. I've been rather busy with other stuff. Anyway, here's what happened:

So for a while now, I was inquring what to do about the SandRuby. Well, it turns out I had to get it to a house in Kaipo. By delivering the SandRuby a nighttime cutscene triggers. After the cutscene, it was time to venture off to Mt. Hobs which was closed off and then thanks to the use of Fire, the entrance opened. Along the way, I came across two new party members: Rosa and Yang. I'm confident their skills could come in handy as we forge on. Who knows?

That's all for now.

Hope you're utilizing your battle formations (Cecil and Yang in the front row, the other three in the back) and keeping everyone's equipment up to date. Unlike FF6, there is no Equipment Optimization option.

I should've thought of that when I went to Kaipo.

You'll also have to pay attention to a character's numbers when changing equipment since the game doesn't automatically tell you if it's better or worse without first equipping it.

Time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

We begin by escaping from Mt. Hobs. Once back at the overworld, our next destination is Fabul which was about to be under attack. Several fights brought us into the Crystal Room. Once those were over, our next stop took place after boarding a boat east of Fabul. Once off the boat, the next place our party got sent to is Mt. Ordeals with two new allies: Palom and Porom. Next time, I'll find out if these two can prove to be just as strong of attackers as Cecil.

That's all for now.

They don't. They're mages and should be relying on magic rather than physical attacks.

Time for another progress report. Here's what happened:

Now comes out first battle featuring our newest ally Tellah. One thing I like about Tellah is he can use both White and Black magic, while others can only use one or the other. Our first encounter is with Milon. Once he's defeated twice comes the moment where Cecil transforms into a Paladin. It took a while to understand, but I figured it out. Once that was done, it was time to escape Mt. Ordeals and head back to Baron.

That's all for now.

Progress is steady. Be sure to update Cecil's equipment before you leave Mysidia if you haven't already.

Were you surprised that
you had to fight Milon twice?

That little twist is one of my favorite gaming memories.
