So I got back from Expendables 3 and what an overall disappointment.

Now, I knew going in that this was PG-13, but after how good EX2 was (with its post-added blood which was pretty much PG-13, but at least it looked like an 80s movie a bit) I still decided to go ahead.

With this movie firmly in PG-13 land, the most striking and damning thing in this movie is how unsatisfying every kill is. Sure, they kill about...40-50 people, but with gun kills, the enemies just jerk around and fall which is so weak. But even worse are the knife kills, which have the team members who use knives always HIDING the violence of the act: people are stabbed in the back, knives thrown, and the worst part: when they actually DO go for a front kill the camera cuts away as they're doing the move.

To the movie's credit, some of the new additions are great. Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas and Mel Gibson are great every time they're on screen. It sucks that they don't have too, too much to do, even though Mel is the actual main bad guy. Mel does do one great scene with Stallone, though.

Along with those 3, they added 4 new characters (3 guys and 1 woman) who are all younger people that I don't give one sh*t about. It was so hard to care about them, that I didn't. If you want to turn me off to a female character entirely, have her spout some sh*t about men. And she did. She had a scene where she took out a bunch of guys in a dress and high heels and after she was done, she had that b*tch look of disdain and, with a harrumph, said "Men." I wish she got killed.

The plot and most of its humor unfortunately fell flat. It wasn't particularly cheesy and a lot of the movie was serious. Plot could have definitely used some refinement. I'm sitting here trying to remember some great/cool moments, but I'm having a lot of difficulty and I saw the movie just 3 hours ago. Where's the one-liners?

This is a movie that tries to aim to the tweens of today while featuring the men who rocked my childhood and teen years acting in a movie that doesn't even try to cater to me. The kids don't know who you are, why would you make this PG-13? I AM 30, damn near. And I almost forgot, the language was SO SOFT. Not a single F-bomb thrown around. What the fu--.

I haven't been this disappointed in a movie in a very long time. Without saying, Expendables 3 is my disappointment of the summer.

PG-13 was clearly an issue, right?

Guess you could say the movie was expendable?

The focus being on the new guys was a big problem. No one who paid money for this movie gives one f*ck about the newbies AND they suck.

And yes, this movie is expendable.
