New contender for wrongest statement ever uttered in human history!

I cannot believe what I just heard from WatchMojo on YT. In their top ten list of greatest video game stories ever, .... (*starts to heave*) .... Bioshock Infinite was at number one.

I just downed the last 1/4 of my liter bottle of eggnog in the fridge. The buzz is not coming on near fast enough. What use is it .... I could chug straight grain alcohol and it wouldn't make me forget this atrocious statement.

Are you certain this wasn't a top ten for worst stories ever told? Because that would make a lot more sense.

Just came back from seeing a performance of The Nutcracker at the Shreveport Metro Ballet Theater. I must say, I am impressed. I found the performance quite captivating from beginning to end, so fifteen dollars dropped to see this was quite worth it. The two most impressive dance segments were the sword fight between The Rat King and The Nutcracker, and then the dance performed by several unnamed women (servants of the Sugar Plum Fairy, perhaps) while the orchestra played "Waltz of the Flowers", which has always been perhaps one of my favorite musical pieces of all time.

But holy crap I can't believe how rude some people in the audience are even today. Unfortunately it turned out I didn't reserve such a good spot in the audience for seclusion after all, as at the last possible minute these two older women and a little girl came to sit down in the row of three seats just behind me. One of the women's cell phone kept ringing and she just wouldn't turn the blasted thing off, FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES TOTAL. And then she kept shifting around in her seat and rattling keys for three or four minutes, like a child would when he gets bored during performances like this. What the deal?

Well, now that I live in a bigger city, it seems I more easily have opportunities to pursue possible artistic interests such as this. I know something like the ballet has been something of a social taboo among guys, but it intrigues me now, and I have no problem saying it. In fact, next to housewife, violinist, and IHOP waitress, I hope my future wife will be a ballerina as her career choice. ^_^

So, here is the chat log on the conversation me and Lantis had yesterday about Bioshock Infinite. It was no coincidence that right after this I went and complained about why I hate the story in Infinite to a coworker who asked me to explain the cutesy Little Sister artwork on my gmail background, and then last night I dreamed about having to write a term paper in English Comp about why I think the story of Bioshock Infinite sucks, and it made me very popular with everyone else in class when I revealed it. This teeth-grindingly irritating story has gotten under my skin ever since I had the incredible unfortunate and damnable determined instinct that I do in difficult video game battles to complete the game and see its ending, and now it's going to haunt me in the exact same two ways that cockroaches do. Just putting it up if you'd like some more insight, though it's quite a bit of manually formatted text.

William Fentress
Soooo, how about some Bioshock talk, when it didn't suck? 11:55 AM

Jay House
You know, it really speaks volumes for Bioshock.11:55 AM
They whole Andrew Ryan thing.11:56 AM
The "Would you kindly" thing.11:56 AM
That's STILL an amazing thing.11:56 AM
NOTHING in Infinite will ever live up to what the first did.11:56 AM

William Fentress
It is, and really not hard to grasp. Aside from the the fact I don't think I understand how exactly Fontaine was able to mentally control Jack.11:57 AM
Plasmid?11:57 AM

Jay House
Dr. Suchong.11:58 AM
There was an audio log that describes Dr. Suchong imprinting the phrase onto Jack.11:58 AM
WHEN this happened, I have no idea.11:59 AM

William Fentress
Did it really try to describe "imprinting"? Or was it a vague Twilight Werewolf Imprinting kind of thing?11:59 AM

Jay House
I don't think it was ever described.11:59 AM

William Fentress
Still, perhaps it was better that it not try to be explained. So long as it is more plausible than the multi-dimensions thing, which it by far is.12:00 PM

Jay House
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gx2v6Dm- ... dex=712:00 PM
If you go through all 7 minutes, you might find were they explain it.12:01 PM
not sure.12:01 PM

William Fentress
Nah, I'll just go with it.12:02 PM

Jay House
http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Yi_Sucho ... k.JPG12:04 PM
That's him working on Jack.12:04 PM
As a small child.12:04 PM
As far as it's being explained, it's the whole sleeper agent thing.12:05 PM
It's been used in fiction several times before.12:05 PM

William Fentress
And there's Geraldine Fitzgerald - I mean, Brigid Tennenbaum - watching all the while in with stoic approval in her mad scientist days.12:06 PM

Jay House
I'm a bit curious now.12:06 PM
Like.12:06 PM
Was Jack born in rapture?12:06 PM
Go through the experiments and then sent to the surface?12:06 PM
Having his memory wiped before?12:06 PM

William Fentress
That's what I thought.12:06 PM

Jay House
Works for me, I guess.12:07 PM

William Fentress
What I'm tripping on, though, is why Ryan didn't make contact with you and ever say that Fontaine was making that crap up about his family dying in that submarine that Ryan had some Splicers blow up, just to play on your sympathies. And boy did Fontaine ever do that; he TOTALLY had me convinced with the desperate "Head to the bathosphere! We'll meet up in Arcadia ahead! ... *voice cracking* Jesus Christ ...."12:10 PM
I guess it just goes to show you how unafraid of everything Ryan really was, to where he wouldn't even plainly reveal Fontaine's deception until you met him face to face. The dude was evil, but man did he have balls.12:11 PM

Jay House
I think it was because it was about as nuts as a pecan pie.12:12 PM
he*12:13 PM
Anyways, I'm going to get some lunch.12:13 PM
I'll be back.12:13 PM

William Fentress
Aight.12:13 PM

Jay House
Back.1:21 PM

William Fentress
Who cares?1:34 PM

Jay House
Wow.1:34 PM
Just.1:34 PM

William Fentress
*troll face*1:34 PM

Jay House
Wow...1:34 PM

William Fentress
Don't know why, but I tried reading the Bioshock Infinite timeline on wikia in hopes of making some semblance of sense, but all to no avail, especially with the conformation on the timeline that during the ending when Elizabeth guides you through the first part of Rapture in Bioshock 1 before going above ground and opening doors to other dimensions in the sky or some crap, it was in fact Rapture at the time of Bioshock 1, suggesting that the lighthouse that you use as Jack to go down to Rapture is in fact somehow an actual gateway to other worlds and times for Elizabeth to open. At least that's how I understand it. I thought at the time that this cameo of Rapture was just for surrealism. But no, it seems the actual explanation is much worse. Lord ....1:41 PM

Jay House
NO!1:46 PM
Stop reading!1:46 PM
You'll lose yourself!1:46 PM
Do not go where I can not follow!1:46 PM

William Fentress
I know. I was about to take a Wrong Turn if I kept trying to make sense of it, the kind of Wrong Turn that would lead me into the untamed wilderness to die violently at the hands of chronically inbred cannibals.1:48 PM

Jay House
Heh.1:49 PM

Jay House
Best story told in 2013...2:09 PM
How on earth.2:10 PM

William Fentress
I thought it was a vid about the best OF ALL TIME to them. Which is downright faith-destroying.2:11 PM

Jay House
Of all time?!2:11 PM
Are they literally f*cking stupid?2:11 PM
Like, seriously.2:11 PM
They have to be mentally challenged.2:12 PM

William Fentress
No, we're just stupid for not "appreciating the depth".2:14 PM

Jay House
THERE IS NOTHING TO APPRECIATE2:15 PM

William Fentress
Nope.2:17 PM
Nothing at all, except the level of insanity.2:17 PM

Jay House
And number of plot holes.2:18 PM
How great can your story even be?2:22 PM
When there's NOTHING memorable in it...2:22 PM
Like the whole thing with Andrew Ryan and "would you kindly"2:22 PM
That's memorable.2:22 PM
And awesome.2:23 PM
And to say that Infinite is better than that.2:23 PM
Nay.2:23 PM
Better than ANYTHING.2:23 PM
Is some of the stupidest crap I've ever heard.2:23 PM

William Fentress
Well, I find it memorable, ... just not in a good way.2:24 PM

Jay House
There are very few games that are worse than Infinite.2:26 PM
The story, specifically.2:27 PM
Not gameplay.2:27 PM

William Fentress
Infinite pisses me off in everything it says past the halfway point when the real storyline started being unveiled. Not like the first two games and Minerva's Den, which held some all-time memorable statements and sentiments.2:28 PM
I can't get over how FANTASTICALLY well-played the story and dialogue in the last dungeon of Bioshock 2 was. Eleanor trying desperately to reach you and not let her mad scientist mother's chidings and philosophical rantings dissuade her, encouraging you all the while to not give up, terrifically impacting statements like "love in itself is just a chemical; we give it meaning by choice", which BY ITSELF clearly summed up the difference between Delta's character and Sophia's, why what Sophia is wrong and Eleanor's principles she learned from you are right. AND all this becomes something like a colossal dichotomy (I think that's the word I'm looking for?) depending on YOUR moral actions throughout the game, making either Sophia's altruism sadistic in nature despite what she believes to be genuinely good intentions based on the mere principle of CHOICE, or her terrible experimentation on her daughter and Little Sisters seem like a godsend in comparison to the cruelty and self-preservation that Eleanor learns from you. THAT is one of the best storylines of all time.2:35 PM

Jay House
Nope.2:36 PM
Infinite is better.2:37 PM
Not only the best Bioshock.2:37 PM
But best story every told.2:37 PM
Period.2:37 PM

William Fentress
..... You suck.2:37 PM

So, I met Amy Covington and Sarah's parents again at church Sunday night after I left your crib (I decided at the last moment to go to Trinity Baptist instead of College View). Amy has changed her hair to a red color and she looks remarkably young for her age (early 30's instead of 40's).2:57 PM

Sorry, I was busy explaining to Lisa what my gmail background image is about, which consequently led me to complain about Bioshock Infinite.3:16 PM

Because she asked what the Little Sister in the image was about.3:17 PM

This has been on my mind a bit lately.

A post from Etna once in a thread about what scares you ->

Quote:
BTW, i'm not really scared of the dying...but i'm just afraid i'll get Hell after i die.I mean a forever torcher is just painful...:XD.

And my response to it (this was over five years ago) ->

Quote:
@Etna -
... Etna, dear child, no one "rules" in Hell; it just plain sucks to be there, period, no matter who you are. It's fine that games like Disgaea sort of paint a lighthearted, whimsical picture of the Underworld, and we can laugh about it that way, but there is still the reality. But, of course, there is a way that you don't have to be afraid of Hell, regardless .... ;)

I doubt anybody remembers this, much less offended by it if they even did, but I still want to say that I couldn't be much sorrier for having conceded to this BS teaching enough to talk to someone else like that, much less that someone being just a kid. What I said was a barely dressed-up version of the damn near robotic "lovingly warning" preaching I've heard from everyone else who never looked and thought for themselves. And now I am sorry for it. I only wish I could apologize to Samantha for it myself. If only more evangelists had had the courage to look closer for themselves sooner. In both the Bible AND their own hearts.

Just wanted to get that out of the way.

Hey guys! Remember me? I'm that guy! The one's who's not Brazilian?
I'm bummed about slowly moving away from this community. Soon I will have more time and while I promise NOTHING, I hope I can at least pretend I am paying attention to my RPGM game.

So... the Superbowl, huh? Didn't watch it. I heard that we didn't even get the so awaited ads and got local (puertorrican adds.)
I heard some people say that there was a football game during Bruno Mars' concert that day. XD
