Getting to the end of Terranigma, apparently a game in the same series as Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. It's a pretty interesting story, with very fluent combat that makes the game neither too easy nor too difficult. Take a lesson, some modern RPG's. Simplicity is your friend.

If I ever get a basset hound or a beagle for a pet, I'm totally naming him Turbo.

Okay, I know Lantis and Ix like VC, but I can't find much to like now. After getting past the sh*t storms known as chapters 7 & 8, I just find combat more and more draining. The explanation on things is terrible, and battles depend highly on luck and landing the hits you need. An operation will not go smoothly if you screw up on killing enemies. And sometimes Lancers will one shot me when I have over 1600 HP. I've built up my tank armor as much as I can to this point, so what's the deal? Honestly this game annoys me more and more as I progress to where I have to tell myself to stop playing the game before my mood sours too much. I will just watch the rest of this game on YouTube. I will return both Sakura Wars (through no fault of its own content... The disc won't read on anything I use) and Valkyria Chronicles because I can't see the fun of playing trough this more than once... If you want to call it fun.

You have to level up your engineers to at least level 6 asap to unlock All Units Defend order, that will make everything much easier. And you can also grind in skirmishes to upgrade equipment and level up. All RPGs require grinding. You can't just blow through the storymode without doing skirmishes, leveling up all your units, and frequenting R&D for new gear. Also, if you haven't stopped by the graveyard to teach Welkins some new orders (some of which are life savers) I can see this being too hard.

If you can play Fire Emblem without any problems, this shouldn't be a problem either. I'm sorry you couldn't get into it though. =/

I am leveling my units and going into R&D. I've gotten most of the new equipment I can use, and I've gotten everyone to above level 7 at this point. It's not the levels that are doing me in. It's the rubbish that comes up in the game like getting blown up from behind because the game doesn't even show you a lancer hiding in the grass at any point (even though they can spot you hiding in the grass). Fire Emblem has been more tolerable than this, and I still think battle 7 and 8a are stupid as hell and ludicrous. I may give it one last try, but after that I'm done.

If you are level 7, then you should spend the last two CP in a turn for All Defend. It'll save your life more times than not. Also be sure to check the graveyard for more commands. I think the missions are designed to put up things that require doing specific things for those people who like to figure out the trick to the fight themselves. I used a walkthrough as I played just because. And grinding in this game is simply required. You might play RPGs that don't require any grinding at all, but there are a surplus of RPGs that do. So much so that grinding is rather synonymous with RPGs. This is one of those games. Though I kind of liked doing all the skirmishes on the multiple difficulties. One trick I picked up is that there's a mission that's just "get to this point." I got my scouts up to a level were they could make the run in a single turn using up all my CP. They award you a lot of points for finishing maps quickly. So turn one finishes are very helpful.

Though this game is one of a kind. There's really no other RPG out there like it. So if it's not your thing, it's just not your thing. Thanks for trying it though. I know I pushed you to for a while.

Beat Harmoknight and got my 3-star rank in Mario Kart 7.:D

Now, I'm feeling pretty good about moving on... with Fire Emblem: Awakening finally! I have the digital copy, so it should be super convenient. I'm really kinda obsessed with not messing up, so I'm trying to absorb stuff I need to know now. The Flaw stat stuff confuses me, but I'm going to try and understand that better for my main character. I have decided to play as a guy, since well... you know.

Also- still playing AC: New Leaf. I finally got another camper at my campsite. They are random animal villagers that will ask to move to your town every other question. I'm holding out for Goldie, but got Pekoe the... panda(?) today. Anyone that visits will play numerous furniture games with you if you pester them enough. They are a great source for furniture and expanding your catalog.:)

A friend of mine loaned me Mario 3D Land and Ocarina of Time 3D. The 3D in Mario Land is pretty legit, and its a fun game too. Im really looking forward to Zelda, though. I've been wanting to play the entire series.

Started Project X Zone yesterday and made it to chapter 5. I'm liking it so far. The story is pretty goofy, but I'm enjoying it, still. Gonna continue it later today.

It is very anime goofy, but I can live with it. I need to continue on as well.

I am also planning to start Fire Emblem: Awakening finally since I got some stuff done in my backlog on the 3DS. I planned out all my relationships, and my asset/flawed stat, and mai waifu. I AM READY TO ROCK CASUAL TOWN.

I've been sinking a lot of time into Mario 3D Land. It's a fun game and all, but it's not exactly the most memorable Mario game. The 3D is great, the platforming is solid with great level design, but overall it's not too groundbreaking. And that's ok.

Animal Crossing:
I think I spotted a gay couple! I just went to visit Beau and Mott was in there too. He asked me not to tell anyone he was there.

Anyway, I HAVE had 2 campers so far, and managed to convince the second one to move in. I had to beat him in a a rock paper scissors game (I'd lose my fishing rod if I lost) which will boost my animal residencies by 10. I wonder what is the maximum...

Project X Zone:
The story is very goofy indeed but I'm enjoying this game a lot! I think I'm in chapter 9 currently.

Still playing Dragon Warrior IV. Near the beginning of the fourth chapter. The first dungeon there is tough, but after a few treks into it, I've managed to afford all the best starting equipment. All that's left in the dungeon is finding some guy who I believe will be my next party member. I also found some "Ball of Silence" while exploring the dungeon. Not sure what it is, but if I had to guess, it's an infini-use silence item. Which would be awesome.

I just started Valkyria Chronicles over on my PS3 (was using someone else's before). Gonna see if I can tolerate it this time. Looking forward to Tales of Xillia which comes out August 6th.

Speaking of Tales of, Lantis and I just finished Tales of Eternia (Tales of Destiny II in America) this weekend. Great game. Seriously, thanks for including it for free along with Tales of Destiny when I bought it from you, Insultabot. You have my gratitude.

Holy cow, Dragon Warrior IV just decided that it wanted to have plot! This looks like a job for spoiler tags!
So after promptly defeating the chapter boss of Chapter 4, this stronger boss comes out and promptly defeats me. It's one of them "you can't win" fights, and I go down faster than you can say "wait, who's this guy" and get thrown in jail. Thankfully, the jail is pretty easy to escape, but we're caught as we're leaving, and our third party member leaves the team to stall the guards while we escape. (Funnily enough, we can casually talk to him and the guards while we're escaping.) Afterwhich, we head to the nearby port and board a ship. Being an NES RPG, the departing ship wasn't anything fancy, but it was still pretty cool (it was actually more impressive than the ship leaving Yang's castle in FF4). The ship arrives at Endor, which happens to be the location where the characters from the previous three chapters had gathered. And that ended Chapter 4.

Chapter 5 (the final chapter) begins by finally introducing us to the character we named at the very start of the game, the prophesized hero who would one day defeat evil. It's apparently in a secluded village that nobody was supposed to know of, because the great evil wanted the hero dead. The hero is 17 years old by this point of the game, but still too weak to do any real heroing. Unfortunately, after bringing lunch to the hero's dad, monsters discover the village and attack. Wait, did the music just change? Oh my gosh, it's an actual cutscene! The hero-to-be is led to the back of the village, with various villagers giving the hero assurance, and we learn that the hero's parents are not our real parents, but no time to explain. We're led to an underground shed in the back of the village. We hear the sound of fighting outside, and then one of the hero's dearest friends comes in and says farewell before using a transformation spell to disguise herself as the hero and head back outside. A moment of silence, and the monsters and the main villain (Necrosaro) are heard proclaiming victory at the defeat of the (fake) hero. I head outside, and find that the village had been completely ransacked and everyone is dead.

...My gosh, I wish I had recorded that!

So, yeah. It's the final chapter. I don't know where in the world I am this time, but I assume my next task is to make my way to Endor where the characters from the previous four chapters await my arrival, then off to fight the final boss. Likely there will be other events between now and then, though, as the hero is starting off at level 1 and none of the other characters really got out of the tweens. And I somehow doubt I'll be fighting the final boss anywhere under level 20-something.

Project X Zone: I'm in chapter 19, I think. And let me tell you, there are times where I think I have a map under control and BAM! More enemies and boss units. I expect the second wave, but not the other ones.

Shin Megami Tensei IV released today, and I picked it up, the glorious Limited Edition.

People were concerned that because Atlus and Nintendo were trying to market it to a wider audience, the game would be significantly easier than past SMT games. I can confirm that this is not the case though, as I died twice during the tutorial.

The game has a pretty cool death mechanic though, atleast for the first few deaths. When you die the first time, you meet Charon, the ferryman of the dead in Hades, and he offers to return you to where you were when you died for a fee, because he is too busy to ferry all the dead people across the river Styx. I'm not sure if you can decline this offer, because when I tried to, he just made the same offer again.

If you then die a second time, you meet Charon's henchmen, because Charon is away doing something, and they proceed to make fun of you for dying yet again. After this conversation, they teleport you back to where you died (for free this time), and then unlock for you the ability to lower the difficulty.

This is where I stopped playing because my 3DS battery was dying.

I'm currently at the first Sniper Wolf battle in Twin Snakes. Gotta say, Silicon Knights did a remarkable job updating the original PS1 version. And the fight choreography in the game is actually REALLY well done. Surprising bit of praise there, but yeah. Love it. Mmf.
