I don't really get what's so impressive about a role reversal.

Actually, that's already a thing... and we know how that turned out:

No thanks.

Actually, I'm interested in this. Looking at the drawings and descriptions for the characters, I think that would actually legitimately be a fun story to unfold.

But he lost me at Anita Sarkeesian.

I don't see why it would be any different. Gender reversal would hold no bearings on how any Zelda game would ever progress. The hero would still do the things the hero needs to do, and the person in trouble will eventually be rescued. So I really don't see the point other than just the novelty of "Zomg, Link's a GURL!"

And to that, I say look up rule 63.

Well, in all fairness, there are several other changes suggested. Although, if N did an alternate universe series with significant changes but familiar faces, they would then be free to radically mix up the gameplay without upsetting core zelda fans.

Oh wait, that was Zelda? Lol. I didn't even scroll down from the first pic. I don't mind a role reversal. I'd just be against the whole clockwork setting and look.

I like the idea. Sure, having Zelda as the star failed before, but those games weren't made by Nintendo, or any of the big companies for that matter.

Cursory looks don't do this the justice it deserves gentlemen (and ladies).

This would be set 2000 YEARS after the current timelines. I, for one, could TOTALLY see that in that time the line of heroes (A future Link) would out shine the Hylian royalty and take power. Also, it is never implicitly stated anywhere that the holders of the various Triforces have to be the same folks let alone the same gender. So in this instance the Triforce of courage falls to Zelda instead of Link. Big woop. That's not why I posted it...well, that was part of it, but not the whole reason. The main reason is that it shakes up the formula a bit with out scraping the story line; It's Steampunk meets Zelda (and honestly, while I'm not a big steampunk guy, I can DEFINITELY see that work) with a twist gender reversal.

Besides, This is supposed to be the Legend of ZELDA. If Peach can get her own game, why not her?

If they want create a series with Zelda as a hero and the timeline more modern/futuristic, then fine. However, I don't think the storyline should reflect any of the other Zelda games, kinda like Metal Gear Rising where it's more based on Raiden's storyline and not so much the overarching MGS story.

I think it should just be a main series game. It's silly to do the whole "alternate universe" only thing cause the Zelda games are already all discombobulated, and the official timeline was more than likely Nintendo's attempt to get people to stop bugging them.:P I mean, some pretty redonk stuff made it in. LET'S GET A SPIRIT TRAIN GUYS.

I don't care which of the timelines it falls into(even though they picked one), but this is something more original in setting, more unique- than what Nintendo would ever dare to do. I oftentimes wonder about the whole Sheikah lore more as well- perfect time to get that in. They even got her a unique doo-dad for the game with that gauntlet, and it sounds amazing. I'm not saying current Zeldas suck at all, but this thing is pretty much a game design document framework, and the amount of work put in is astounding and the art is on-style and also pretty kickbutt.

TL;DR, I want to throw money at my screen and get this game, but it isn't going to happen. I can also take or leave the steampunk, but if they're going that route I think that could work too- especially since the gauntlet is so steam-punk-y and it is also awesome.
