Drumline has just started back up, so that's my base for exercise. At least 7 hours a week - we have 14 next weekend. Gonna try to write down my measurements now to see how much it changes over the season (even though we're already like a month in).

I've been getting back to the gym now that my chest and shoulder have healed. They still get tense though. Its weird, my chiropractor asked me for gym advice out of the blue. I guess whatever results I have must be paying off. I just never thought going to the gym would impact other people's thoughts of me. Its a hobby, I'm not. Seeking to impress.

I'll be going to the gym once again, starting tomorrow! Last times I went I was either unemployed or had little work hours, so now it'll be kind of a challenge to make sure I can go every day.

With 2013 around the corner I want to look back and ponder about the gym endeavor I started back in Dec 2011

Going to the gym was one of my New Years Resolutions and --to a certain extent-- I feel like I accomplished that. I wasn't able to hit my target weight of 150 but thanks to consistency and motivation I was able to go to the gym 3 times a week and find a workout routine that I became accustomed to.

Here's the thing; no matter how much I change physically I still have this mindset that I haven't reached my goal. When people compliment my physique I'm never in a state of agreement. My ego is like a stack of cards.

In 2013 I would like to bump up to a solid 150, look at my state then, and cut down weight to show the muscle. Bleh, I always hate talking this way, it makes me look like a gym nut or something.

That's it. Dead To Rights.

Hey! I'm glad you posted here duel. I have been meaning to post but I didn't want to double post. XD

So I have been going to the gym for a while, but not consistently enough to see some progress. My actual goal is to lose a bit of weight, since at least I used to walk a lot (I didn't have a car) and that helped me stay around 180 lbs. I don't intend to fall back at 180 since I was pretty thin back then but my self confidence would get a nice boost if I can just go below 200 (which I'm not that far off. I never go above 205 lbs)

Keep at it Guar and examine your diet. Are there a lot of sugary foods and drinks in it? If so, removing them from your daily meals will help you lose weight dramatically.

Actually yeah, that's one of the things I started doing. I'm actually drinking a lot less soda and more water too. And I've been focusing more on cardio than anything else.

I recommend keeping a water bottle with you often. The way I kicked my soda habit was by constantly having a water bottle nearby. Drink! DRINK! DRRRRINK!

But still, I won't deny the great feeling when you sip on Squirt soda on a hot sunny day.

I need to learn how to lift, but I'm afraid I'm going to break myself if I try by myself, and I'm too poor to get a trainer. I bought a book on the basics, I just need to read through it and then get the balls to go the gym and try them out.

Plus I need to do squats. I was doing them at drumline and by the end of the night I couldn't stand up. Don't want that to happen again, that was embarrassing.

Personally, I suggest going in and doing a light weight first. Test the waters, ya know? Then do a heavier weight to see your limit. When you first start out it's all about gauging what you can and cannot do. Eventually, sometimes through trial-and-error, you'll develop a routine and know what to do. It'll become second nature.

Also, remember! It's like brushing your teeth! DON'T STOP!

So I realized last weekend that the platform that I've been using to get my weight has been giving me inconsistent weights. SMH. So today, I weighed myself today on a strong, sturdy board and I found that I'm 3 pounds heavier than I thought (297 instead of 294), but I'm not letting that deter me. I'm actually rather excited to get accurate measurements of my actions next week.
