I really liked the new Hobbit movie - I got to see it at the midnight premiere with my brother. And I think they were making the book into 3 movies, like the LotR. I asked my brother about it (seeing as how he's read the book), and he said they added in a lot of backstory and stuff from his notes, so I guess even if you've read the book there's still some surprise there. That's kinda nice I think.
