I'm sure when it comes to video games there has to be that one boss you would consider the hardest boss you've ever faced. If so, let me know which one and from what game.

For example: The hardest boss I've ever faced was Bouldergeist from Super Mario Galaxy.

The hardest boss I ever faced was Crawmarax the Invincible from Borderlands 1.

It took three of us hours of preparation and hours of battling, but we finally vinced him.

Nelo Angelo, third form, Devil May Cry 1, Dante Must Die difficulty.

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga's Demi-Fiend aka, the main protagonist of SMT 3: Noctourne.

First of all, if you enter the battle with him with any ability equipped that nullifies, absorbs, or reflects any status effects or any other types of damage (these types of skills are highly useful for the rest of the game), he instantly kills your entire party.

Secondly, his main attack cause around 7000 damage to your entire party. This is a game where the maximum health any character can have is 999.

He also summons several very powerful minions to fight with him that constantly buff and heal him, and debuff and attack you.

Basically the entire battle is based on luck.

I'm with Myoky on the thing about luck, at least partly.

As the hardest battle I think I've ever faced is Gades (his first form) in Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals. It's like equal parts skill and luck is required.

A most satisfying battle, though. In this version he has truly earned the title of "Sinistral of Destruction". ... About freakin' time.

Captain K Rool from Donkey Kong Country 2 was one of the hardest bosses I ever faced. It's platformer bliss.
