At a PAX East panel, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford revealed information about a fifth playable character class which will be available as post-launch DLC for Borderlands 2. The "Mechromancer" character, currently in a concept stage while the team focuses on finishing the core game, was depicted in a slide as a young, redheaded girl sporting pigtails, goggles and a robotic arm. The class' abilities include controlling robot companions, including one referred to as "Deathtrap."

The content, "doesn't exist yet," according to Pitchford, but that the team plans to add the class as post-launch DLC, arriving some 60-90 following the release of the game in September. Pitchford also confirmed that this content will be free for those that preordered the game.

That's enough to get a pre-order from me. Necros are awesome job classes regardless of the game.

Here's a quick look at each of the four classes being played by the guys at Destructoid and Revision 3.

I like that the medic class from BL 1 is now spread out amongst the siren and gunserker classes in BL2. Having healing abilities is great and if we are missing a member of the team, the other can carry the burden.

Can you guess which one I plan on using for my first playthrough?

There is a new trade menu so no longer must we throw things on the ground.

Custom waypoints on the map!
There's a MAP!! :drool
Branching quests? You can see in the videos, that you can turn in missions to different people for different rewards. Different questlines?

Holy crap, a mini-map. That was one of my biggest complaints in BL1. Screw the fact there are custom waypoints. The fact there's a map at all is just awesome.

Out of the classes, I think I may go with Assassin. I would really love to see something on Mechromancer though.

I can't believe she said "triflin" in the first clip. I haven't heard that used much since I was like 13.:P

Even so, Maya will more than likely be my choice. I liked the Soldier type in the first game a lot.

Hahahaha. Ashley Burch got to voice act. That's too funny. I'm going to absolutely love this game.

I haven't gotten very far in the first Borderlands, to be perfectly honest, so today's Steam deal excited me since I do a great deal of PC gaming these days. And I wanna see more of the story pre-BL2. I know that's not the biggest part or anything, but I enjoy it.

Borderlands is a part of the current day's Steam sale, the complete edition with all DLC for $7.49. I think the deal lasts another 18 hours, just wanted to give a heads up on that.:D

Okay so... the demake is pretty simple as long as you can get your hands on a strong rail gun that shoots two ways. The doorways the enemies come through are always north/south, east/west. A rail gun will pierce walls and enemies. So you can just shoot up and down, and then left and right. And nothing will be able to touch you.

The WORST enemy in this game are the treasure chests. The only reason I lost is because I accidentally touched a treasure chest and was holding a direction that caused me to equip a piece of crap rocket launcher.

Just before half a mil too. I was level 184.

Even with a gun like that I couldn't get half as far as you did.

Also, new trailer!

and head over to their Twitch channel to see them playing BL2 at PAX this afternoon.
