Youtube's cracking down on copywrite claims. Both Lantis and I have both gotten hit with the 15-minute limit.

Whether removing the offending videos restores your upload priveledges, I'm not sure yet.

I'm really sorry this happened to you both. I actually deleted my old channel since this happened to me from posting a PSO2 video when they claimed they had no NDA.

Also, it's worth mentioning I deleted the video as soon as I got a complaint and nothing gave. Might wanna try disputing but that is so nebulous and convoluted as well.

Just... FFFFFFFF.

It also explains about how certain 3rd parties will claim content ID matches, that do not actually own the content. At all. This may be the case if the company claiming this isn't legit- you know, the company that made the game. Even so, it should be covered under fair use. Youtube apparently even had GUIDELINES for making walkthroughs and stuff of games, and also, a freaking GAMING category on the site! In sum, check to see if the content ID claim is legit. If it isn't you are protected in the first way- dispute the claim, select the first option that it is a mistaken claim by a false owner.

In the video, and it seems recent(January 21st, 2012) but hopefully if not totally currently recent, should help. At 5:17 in the video, you see the dispute page. Number 2 applies to LPs/Walkthroughs- you do not require permission from the copyright owner under Fair Use's provision of commentary. As long as there's commentary by you, you should be able to select this. Hopefully, it works. Be wary of outright deleting videos- I did so on my PSO2 one and could not dispute(though, no commentary on it, so it probably wouldn't have worked in my case anyhow.)

I could've used that information a little sooner. I already deleted all four offending videos last night. Though it did diddly squat for my upload limit.

I hope they still restore the account somehow. I honestly think Youtube is being the most ridiculous of all over this. Company has a problem with a video? Fine, if the user gets rid of it, put their account back in good standing. It should be that simple, but they have to make a production out of it. Meanwhile, people put episodes of shows on there and nothing happens to em a lot of the time.

Maybe there is a general contact for them? I have no idea. I got so frustrated with this when it happened to me that I just didn't bother and made a new channel. My girlfriend suggested me separating out stuff that is entirely my content(aka, not problematic and mainstream) and splitting into two channels, but honestly... gah. It's a good safety measure to not lose certain things(RPGM videos, art videos, etc), but at the same time just annoying to even have to think of such an idea with how dumb Youtube is being over this stuff.

That being said, I did a lot of research on this when it was slapping people down over PSO2. What I found was that it can take up to 6 months to restore upload. And that's with "good behavior" etc etc as Youtube sees it. Maybe checking a general contact for them could speed this up as well.

Well, I still have the MissFuzzbottom account I created back when I thought I had a shot of being Miss Fuzzbottom. I told Lantis in chat that we should wait a week and see if we get the limit removed again. If not, I'll be switching to Fuzzybutt, and I guess Lantis will perhaps start a new account. Getting the limit removed on a new account at least doesn't take too long. Maybe he could LP a Game Boy game or something. Something that would be easy to keep within a 15-minute limit, until the limit's removed.

Even with a backup plan, though, this is just complete BS.

Not even two hours ago, my limit was removed again. It took about 15 hours from the time I deleted all the videos in question for it to reflect on my account and was once again in good standing.

So I'll be uploading the three videos I had to delete tonight.

Lantis, were any of the videos removed blocked in certain countries? I had one, and someone told me that might've been what did it.

I guess they were all just Content ID matches then. Odd that they chose now of all times to do anything- maybe it was a hiccup in the system.

Still, if you ever get a copyright strike(the serious business ones), definitely petition against that crap. Alwayssss.

Problem is, Youtube doesn't make it easy to do that. Heck, a few of the options in the dispute process are obvious traps. "I own the CD"? Lol.

Edit. Apparently, the message that says I can upload videos longer than 15 minutes is a lie.

Yeah. They do make it hard. And two, GOOOOOGLE. I love how they try to have this hipster public interest image, to where it suits them. Google+ is evident of that, as is Youtube. They love users... the ones that bring in the dosh of course.

I'm scared to upload anything now.

I'm going to wait till tomorrow evening and TRY to get up part 4 of the DKC 2 race.

I'm doing frequent test uploads of a 16-minute video that consists of nothing but a black screen. If it ever gets accepted, I'll be sure to mention it here.

Any of you who were affected by this, you might want to check your video lists. I just noticed that all the attempted uploads I made and deleted during the time limit downtime have suddenly all reappeared.

The only video I uploaded during the glitch didn't come back. So I'm clear.

You sure? I know you linked a video to them that got denied because of the time limit. If it's back, it will not have the denied message. Instead, it will blend in with the rest of the successful videos.

Never mind, yeah, it was there. I was expecting to see the removal warning. I hope it didn't post to my subscribers...
