(Note that this was later copy/pasted into the first post.)

So, if any of you have kept an eye on my YouTube account, you'll have seen that I've been uploading random clips of Second Life here and there. Namely, these: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8772C2C0392BEB01

Now, I've been wanting to do a video series on SL for a long while. Something more in-depth than the little videos above. I've just been waiting for the right opportunity. That opportunity is now.

This'll be a "whatever I feel like doing" series. Sometimes I'll show off the mechanics of SL. Sometimes I'll be exploring random places. Sometimes I'll be showing off various avatars. Sometimes I'll be building things. Basically, I intend to delve into the world of Second Life more than ever before, letting you all see second-hand what makes this world so special to me. In a way, it could probably be considered a "let's play", but I liken it to more a casual documentary. It's not gonna be part of my LP series. Heck, it's not gonna recieve the same level of editing as my LP series. It's something I'm just gonna record if I have the time, sync up the audio, boom, done. Now, during the second video, there's a couple spots that I censor, but thinking on it, that'd probably take too much effort if I wound up having to do that a lot, so I won't bother from here on.

With that said, check the first post for the videos. The first video is just of the sign-up process... for reasons that I don't know why I recorded the sign-up process... You can skip to the second video if you want. In the second video, I start off at Welcome Island, a tutorial area of SL, before teleporting to someplace random (literally, I had no choice in the matter) and showing off just a few of the basic game mechanics. Bonanza, you might be interested.

Oh, and one more thing. You might want to watch it at full-screen level. I don't record at HD (it'll cause horrid de-sync if I try), but it'll make the text easier to read.

Here's a couple more videos. We check out an older tutorial place. While it does go over some things already explained at Welcome Island, there are a few other features explored using the Advanced interface. And this tutorial gives a better feeling of satisfaction, thanks to being slightly more quest-like in your tasks. In actuality, I only explore half of the island on camera, but the other half is just a scenic walk.

We also see a nearly side-by-side comparison of how avatars in Second Life used to look compared to how they look now, as well as an "inside" look at how furry avatars and vehicle avatars work.

Today's location can be found at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/O ... 100/171/33

Okay, so I decided it was high time to start this "Aimless" series of mine again, for reasons that will be discussed in the video after this. But for the moment, I go over some of the interface, mainly due to the fact that Second Life has recieved a bit of an update since the last time I recorded.

Okay, I'll admit, this may not be the best effort I've made with a video, but honestly, how can you make a commentated series on Second Life? Maybe eventually I'll figure out the answer to that, but for now, I just want to make a casual series of videos that don't take the same amount of extensive effort as my let's plays.

By the way, I'd recommend watching in a large view. That's some small text for a large video.

This is a cool idea! I've personally only played Second Life when I had to in college for a 3D modeling class, so it's nice to see more of the game past the island for our college, haha. One of my favorite animes(Maria-Sama Ga Miteru) also had a space where they recreated the school from it and offered uniforms from the show, which was cool.

Anywho, keep it up!

I almost didn't keep it up. The reason why I restarted this series was because a place I'm going to was going to be remodeled and I wanted to show it off before it got remodelled too much, but a large portion of it had already been changed, which bummed me. That, combined with the unexplained thumbs down of this video.

I just now recorded that area, but I've got enough uploads for the week already, so I'll put it up sometime next week.

This was apparently Second Life week on my YouTube channel. Not only did I record a rather lengthy addition of Aimless, but there were a couple random videos I did that I think some of you might find interesting.

The first is a shortie. Someone showed off a "bumper" they got, and I thought it was neat enough to record.

The person called Drake also had this game called "Digital War Game", which is based on (read: copied from) a computer game called Darwinia. It's an RTS, where you control these little soldiers who fight each other and ultimately destroy the opponent's base. I recorded three videos of it. The first is shown below, where Drake was simply demonstrating it by letting the computer control all the forts. The real fun began when we started playing. But those are such lengthy videos, I decided to hold off on them until later. For now, here's the example game:

And finally comes this edition of "Aimless in Second Life", which is actually two videos, on account it would've been over an hour long had I kept it as one video. In these videos, I explore Rocket City Community, which is where I spend most of my time hanging out. It's a furry sim, but humans are always welcome. This place is the reason I decided to get back into doing AiSL, because it's about to have a drastic remodelling, and I wanted to show it off now for the sake of memories.

The sad thing is, watching little people make war on each other is probably more entertaining than the tour. :p

Okay, at this point I'm probably uploading too much SL stuff this week. I'll probably only upload the next war game video next week, and save more AiSL for another time. But I just now uploaded a third video of Rocket City, because I realized that the first two were very impersonal, probably because I was so much in a rush to show off as much of the place as I could before the remodel. But Rocket City's my favorite hangout in Second Life, so I decided I should record one more video of it just so I can explain WHY I like the place so much.

Logo does so represent quality of video! Both are very well done.

The whole flying aspect is pretty neat. I always loved Pilotwings 64, and your animation of your SL fursona looks amazing. Most people in my college class, even those more experienced never had that level of detail in their characters.

When I heard "Rocket City" I immediately thought of the "Tube City" joke on The Office, where Michael built a series of tubes throughout the office for hamsters. It amused me that you actually MADE a tube structure after that.XD It looks really well done!

There aren't many games out there where you can just up and fly anywhere, anytime. In Second Life, everyone is Superman. :P

It's more referring to videos such as the one earlier where I just sat in one place and basically just talked about the user interface. Videos like the tour, sure, there will be interesting things, but I intend to show off whatever I want to show off, whether it's a good idea or not.

Anyway, I was FINALLY able to upload the next video of the RTS that we played in SL. Here we show off what happens when you add the human element to the Digital War Game. (Or is that the furry element?) It's a five-fort free-for-all, with three of the forts being player-controlled! Who do you think will win?

For our last game, we decided to make it us three vs. the computer. It didn't quite go according to plan...

I decided not to add any music this time. Partly on account Youtube didn't give me any songs the length of this video, and partly because I couldn't find one worth looping. Hopefully it'll be entertaining enough just from the action. But if you really want to hear some tunes, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to find your own.

Looks like I'm back with another one of these, and since these are advertised on my welcome video at my Youtube page, I'll be trying to do these a little more often.

I've mentioned before how Second Life has its own expansive railroad. Now you get to see part of it under construction by one of the bigwigs of Second Life.

Video within:

As I've come to find out, the reason Michael Linden is a "Moletivator" is because he's the leader of the "Linden Department of Public Works", and most members of that group are moles. So it's an organization thing.

And for those wondering, no, I did not hit those "ban lines" on purpose. (No, you don't have to be banned from places in order for them to affect you.) Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Anybody who takes a casual flight across the mainlands of Second Life will run into these frequently. For what it's worth, I'm glad I caught the issue on camera in a video that a Linden might see. Maybe this will show how annoying thay are for the innocent passerby, and basic land protection can be reworked.

I've actually had this video sitting in the queue for a few weeks, already. But, I wanted to space out my SL videos a bit.

In this video, I show off the YavaScript Pod tours. There are pod stations here and there around Second Life, that take you on guided tours around the mainland continents. Also, they're not just pods; they're also transformers! (sorta)
