How to do a first install:
To make the game English, first, rip your RPGT4 cd(AS A BIN FILE). Now download PPF-o-matic.
Finally, download the latest patch (0.3.4b) on the very bottom of this post.
Here is some mirrors just in case: Mirror1 Mirror2
Now just use PPFOMatic to apply the patch to your ripped BIN file.

Now burn the game to a CD or play it on a emulator :D
Or double-swap trick on a original PS1.

If for whatever reason the link is down, or you need to get in quick contact with me, hop into the chatroom on the top right of the page. I'm usually on it during the day or late at night.

How to Update your patch:

(Note: Is the ext is .pff, simply rename it to .ppf)
Use PPF-o-Matic and apply the patch to a older BIN file, or rip another image and use PPF-o-Matic on the original.
There should be NO Cross-Patch compatibility problems. Everything that worked on a older patch should(I don't see why not) work on a newer patch. If not, let me know!

What's new in the 0.3.4b:
Repointed some text (Allows for less-abbreviated words) and fixed it up.
Corrected some text (A monster Spider that was called Cloud, etc).
Bundle of other text that was fixed up (Thanks Draygone).
Few other things translated.

Credits:
Ixz, for translating most of what was in Thutmoses Translation Database.
RPGMMag community for helping with Thutmoses Database.
Thutmose for the database in the first place.
Random people in the RPGMMag chatroom to give advice :D.

Older patches:
These are here in case a patch I release doesn't work, or some other mishap.
Note: In my older patches, it will be a .pff instead of a .ppf. Just rename the ext to .ppf and it should work, sorry!
0.3b
0.3.2b
0.3.3b

Excellent work.

Keep in mind that some text is not actually text, but images (like the text next to some buttons). That text cannot be translated.

I've gone through pretty much all RPGT4, so I should be able to tell you the correct translation for just about any of the functions you can't figure out. I'll try to take a look at your patch, and see if I can't clarify some things.

I was wondering if thats the case for the Button Info things. In that case, I can translate that too :D I'm sure there is a 'image editor' for the ps1 somewhere, there was for the N64, id be suprised if there wasn't.
It'd be awesome if you could tell me the things I got confused on at some point lol.

There is an image editor/convertor for PS1.

Personally, I think it's more trouble than it's worth to extract then insert the translated images. Given the tiny amount of space available, I don't see how you would be able to replace the images with anything all that much more informative in English. But it's totally up to you if you want to do that.

I just went through the game and messed around with the events for a bit. I have to say you did a remarkable job thus far. As it sits now, one could totally make something with this. It would still take some getting used to and a good bit of experimenting, but it's completely functional.

Remeer, you are freakin' awesome.

Dude, Remeer:

:jimp

Great job so far on all of this. I'm glad that Mose's translation (that I helped with a bunch ;)) is moving forward so well. I wasn't actually expecting such rapid progress.

Keep up the good work and if I can help in some way, let me know.

Also, some places will have ? marks, like "Variables?", this means I'm not exactly sure what it is, if you could tell me that to, that'd be awesome.

As I told you in chat, Variables are just a more versatile version of Switches. A Switch can only do Off or On, which is basically just 1 or 2. Variables can hold a lot more different numbers. You can modify them in a variety of ways to keep track of amounts of stuff. Like if you wanted some guy who wanted you to talk to 12 people, you could have a variable go up every time you talk to a person, and then a page condition for that some guy will trigger once that variable hits 12.
Or, a more useful example in your case, you could use it to keep track of how many of a certain ore you have, and have an event condition activate when the ore variable reaches 3 and the pie variable reaches 1.

I think he knows what variables are. He just meant anything with a question mark after the word, he's not 100% sure that's what it is.

Ah, that would make more sense.

Updated the thread, made it look a bit prettier, and released a new patch.

Almost a week later and the Pav finally catches on. Welcome to the party.

Actually, I learned about it on the 21st, when Thutmose posted on the pav about it. Didn't have time to actually check it out until the weekend.

I'm throwing this into the mix, too, from GameFAQs. Maybe you've already put it in, but it won't hurt:

all of what is listed there should be done. I already knew about that guide, and I use it to copy/paste/find some symbols I can't type on this keyboard.
Thanks though lol

I've been messing around with it the last few days. I think the hardest thing to get used to is the dungeon creation process. The tile sets takes a good while to get used to. That and I haven't quite figured out how layering works. I haven't really got around to start some event work, but I should be knee deep in it before too long.

I'm liking the frequency of these translation patches, man! I updated the main announcements to reflect your pace. :D
