Hey guys, I'm sure I've said before that I've taken to blogging for a while now. Anyway, I felt like posting here a list I made purely for fun.
The site were I posted it has a few more bbcode options, so it won't look as nicely as the
original. Maybe you could tell me what do you think of it?
For many decades, pink has been associate with the female gender, and along with, a series of negative stereotypes. Can you imagine pink as a symbol of strength? Or do you think of girly girls that are girly? Not so long ago, I saw a thread in the gaming forum were people were posting gaming girly girls, and someone stated that anyone in pink was girly. So I decided to investigate. But I didn’t check how girly are the ladies in pink, rather, can you rely on video game characters in pink?
My internet brows-errr.. research led me to make a list of my Top 20 characters in pink, and maybe proving, that there is strength…. In pink. (Even if I personally don’t wear it.)
NOTE: I’m not ranking them out in order of strength, just in order of my personal preference. So, try not to be too baffled by some of the choices.
Quote:
WARNING If it isn’t obvious enough, there is a massive amount of pinkness in this list. If you are not brave enough to handle all the pinkness, I suggest you close your eyes while reading this blog. Yeah… that should work.
20. AnkleFirst appeared in: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2002)
Most likely to: Die alone
Every list has to start from the bottom. And I don’t think there’s anyone else further down the barrel than
Ankle.
Did you know that Tingle has a set of twin, younger brothers, and one of them wears pink? Do you know how frightening that is? They could be triplets for all we know! But I digress.
One thing is to wear pink, but this… hurts my eyes. Tingle has always hurt my eyes, so probably the color Pink is not the problem here.
19. MileenaFirst appeared in: Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)
Most likely to: do nasty things to you with her mouth.
This deadly lady ninja actually wore purple until the latest installments of Mortal Kombat, and even then you could argue that her outfit is still… purplish? Fuchsia? It’s hard to tell when there’s so little cloth actually covering her. Just look at her! Can those strings really keep her… assets in place during a fight? Oh well…Let’s just say that she has enough cloths covering the more important bits of her body, and by that, I mean the lower part of her face, but I’m sure most of you know what’s underneath that veil…
18. Axem PinkFirst appeared in: Super Mario RPG (1996)
Most likely to: become a wood cutter.
Axem Pink is full of surprises. First, her weapon of choice is an Axe, and second, she wears pink. Surprised? I thought not. Her pink outfit is expected, being the only female on a color coded team of super villains: The Axem Rangers, when she is not hacking and slashing with her axe, she is healing her team mates.
17. PoshulFirst appeared in: Chrono Cross (1999)
Most likely to: go for Team Jacob
Poshul is a dog.
A female dog
A female talking dog
A female talking dog with a lisp
A pink, female talking dog with a lisp
A very fashionable looking female, pink dog with a lisp
I don’t have much to say about her, other than she is Leena’s pet and the first character you can recruit In Chrono Cross. Expect her to be loyal and like bones. Just like any typical fashionable looking female pink dogs with a lisp.
16. Amy RoseFirst appeared in: Sonic CD (1993)
Most likely to: receive a restriction order.
Sonic’s self proclaimed girlfriend. What can I say about her? She, like Sonic, is a hedgehog. Unlike Sonic, she is pink. Very Ppnk. And has a hammer. A giant hammer. Oh, and she’s very pink…
But the Amy we all (may) know is not the original design. She first appeared as a younger, less whiney kid called Rosy the Rascal. But she was still pink. Very pink.
15. BirdoFirst appeared in: Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic (1987)
Most likely to: be a trap
The controversial creature known as Birdo. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? What matters is that Birdo (Known as Catherine in Japan) is pink. Originally an enemy and guardian of the end stage in Super Mario Bros, Birdo seems to have made peace and found away to get out of subcon and play sports with the rest of the Mario crew.
14. Momo KaruizawaFirst appeared in: Rival Schools: Project Justice (1997)
Most likely to: steal your wallet.
Granted, this cute little girl doesn’t wear massive amounts of pink, like the rest of the list, but.. still enough pink to make the cut.
Now look at her. Now that girl is EVIL. Pure Evil. This impish, naughty girl knows how to use her size and looks to seem helpless and innocent, but she knows how to scheme. That tennis racket is not for show either. You’ll soon be wacked by tennis ball (or the racket itself) if you let your guard down.
13. Wendy KoopaFirst appeared in: Super Mario Bros 3 (1988)
Most likely to: be a appear in My Sweet 16
Wendy Koopa is the only girl among 7 other siblings, and I’m pretty sure she gets what she wants (Unless Mario is on the way of her desires of course) I’m also sure not many koopas look as good she does in a pink shell and ribbons.
12. Dixie KongFirst appeared in: Donkey Kong Country 2 (1995)
Most likely to: go bananas
The first playable female king happens to like pink too. Diddy Kong’s girlfriend proved right away that she can hang out with the best of them, and that you can count of her helicopter, barrel grabbing ponytail. There are definitely more feminine Kongs out there (including her younger sister, who seemed to develop way faster than her) no other Kong wears pink like her.
11. KairiFirst appeared in: Kingodm Hearts (2002)
Most likely to: [insert witty/lame comment here]
In the course of history, women have been the cause of many historic events. In video games, it usually starts when somebody kidnaps her and the male hero sets on a journey to destroy nations to find her. OK, so this is not the exact case with Kairi, and the descriptions probably fits Peach better… I can’t really say, Kingdom Hearts is not so fresh in my memory. While she doesn’t wear pink on her first appearance, she joins the pink team as she grows up. Also, like rest of the pinks, she has proven she can take care of herself to some extent.
10. Jigglypuff First appeared in: Pokemon Red and Blue (And Green in Japan, 1996)
Most likely to: be successful at karaoke
Jigglypuff is a mean killing machine, who happens to be shaped like a cute, pink balloon and sings too. Japan seems (or seemed?) to adore her. I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t have been the case if she was… let’s say… green.
9. ToadetteFirst appeared in: Mario Kart: Double Dash‼ (2003)
Most likely to: give you diabetes
Nintendo has done it again. Needing a partner for the dual kart racing madness for Toad, they created a female version of him. And she is disgustingly pink. She’s also sickenly cute. Just look at her. Urgh. Have I mentioned that I user her quite often, when I need a Toad break in Mario Kart Wii? I’m afraid that she is here to stay.
8. Kirby
First appeared in: Kirby’s Dreamland (1992)
Most likely to: eat your pet.
Kirby is probably one of the most dangerous creatures that also happens to be pink. An interesting bit of info is that while creator Masahiro Sakurai envisioned him as a pink fluff of cuteness, Shigeru Miyamoto imagined him yellow. In the end, he ended up being pink, but in the confusion, he was presented as white in America. He might be pink, but I dare you to make fun of him, in his face. He will suck you up, spit you out and cut you down. Twice. (^_^)
7. Aeris GainsbourghFirst appeared in: Final Fantasy VII (1997)
Most likely to:Aeris… such a character… whether you love her or hate her, there’s no denying that she has become an iconic character thanks in part to Sephy. I think she would die before wearing a not so pink outfit too. Anyway, at first glance she seems your typical damsel in distress who is physically weak but great in magic, but she turns out to be stronger than she looks (As a character, I mean)
6. JosephineFirst appeared in: Suikoden 5 (2006)
Most likely to: become a fashion diva
I had to fit in here a Suikoden character! Josephine is yet another noble looking lady with a fine pink (and red) dress with an eye for culture and fashion… But she is not as lady like as she seems. She is the first noble lady to actually fight in a Suikoden game, whacking enemies with an umbrella. She also has dark secret she hides, and that made me like her more in the game.
5. Bad GirlFirst appeared in: No More Heroes (2008)
Most likely to: kill you on the spot.
Bad Girl is a very bad gurl. She is the ranked second in the United Assassins Association, and despite her girly pink outfit, she’s anything but girly. She is blood thirsty beer drinking demented maniac that likes to beat people up to death with a bat. She is very dangerous and might try to trick you by starting to cry suddenly in mid battle. This persistent is pretty high on the list because she was VERY persistent until the very end. Only one fight was necessary to engrave her in my mind as the most psychotic killer in pink.
4. ClaraFirst appeared in: Skies of Arcadia (2000)
Most likely to: find true love. By force.
Skies of Arcadia is filled with unique types of pirates, but Clara beats them all in the girly fashion department. Her flagship, the Primrose is pink. Very pink. In and out. And it’s entire crew is composed of girls. Girly girls. Girly girls in search of love. And of course, Clara wouldn’t be a good captain if she herself wasn’t wearing pink too. Clara seems to be a strong pirate, instilling fear in those she hunts (which usually is her love interest)
Clara’s flagship: The Primrose3. Quistis TrepeFirst appeared in: Final Fantasy VIII (1999)
Most likely to: put you in Time Out
There are a lot of popular Final Fantasy characters out there, but one of my favorites doesn’t seem to be one of them. What is it that I like about her? The whip? The mature teaching role she portrays? The fact that she has a instant kill “limit break” that you can spam by having her at low health to level up in the toughest areas of the game? Or is it because she wears pink?
I think it’s the whip…
2. Princess PeachFirst appeared in: Super Mario Bros. (1985)
Most likely to: be kidnapped
Who doesn’t know Peach? She has been kidnapped time and time again for the last 25 years! You would think that by now, her people would be prepared for the next kidnap attempt, and maybe they do. (Plan A: Wait for Mario to rescue her) But I digress…
Peach has shown that she is not as defenseless as she was many years ago, and has been seen dribbling, kicking, fighting and jumping her away across board games and sports events, while keeping her princess…y grace, and her trademark pink of course.
Peach is, actually, my favorite Nintendo character (along with Toad) and that’s probably why I ranked her so highly on this list. But if she’s among my favorite characters, who could possibly top her in the strange world known as
my mind?
1. Dan HibikiFirst appeared in: First Appeared: Street Fighter Alpha (1995)
Most likely to: succeed in life.
Dan ''
The Man'' Hibiki. I’m sure that’s how his friends call him. A man who has beaten one of the most feared fighters (who certainly did not throw the match!) and has gone to great measures promoting and expanding his Saikyo-style school. His style is so complex that one student managed to learn it, but had to forget it because it overwhelmed her to know such a dangerous style. But this is not what sets Dan from the rest. The fact that he is man enough to wear a pink Gi baffles the mind of Chuck Norris himself, and is his greatest asset.
THE ENDI bet some, if not most if you are confused by the whole… list idea. I don’t blame you. I don’t expect anyone to start wearing pink (I won’t be, I can tell you that!) but I hope that from now on, whenever you see pink, you can think of these brave ladies. And gentlemen. And animals. And any other miscellaneous category other might fall in, and remember: here isn’t really any strength in pink, but you van be strong and wear pink.
Unless you’re
Ankle.
