I wanted to put this in the convention sub forum, but it's a bit too early for that. Just watch this. I have no idea what this is or if it's some kind of add for something to come out later... I just know that they really changed the storyline a good deal from what Mortal Kombat was. Not sure if I like it.

Well, it looks like it's going to be the third live-action movie. And it's a compete reboot of the Mortal Kombat world.

... I never realized the striking resemblance between Reptile and Jeffrey Dahmer.

It's basically a quick short film some director made to pitch his idea of a new re-imagined MK movie to Warner Brothers.

probably because they realized that even though the original MK movie was extremely faithful to the story of the game, it wasn't very good.

I thought the first movie was at least alright. The second, however... not so much.

Just you watch, after the movie will come Mortal Kombat: The Movie: The Game.

I think the original story lacked the necessary meat to sustain itself as a movie, even though it was perfect for what the game required, which is why I'd only re-watch the first film out of nostalgia, and not much else. It's wise to tweak whatever material you're crossing over, rather than attempting to do the impossible by doing it 'justice'.
