Did you see something in the past you want back? Something that could improve the site in the future?

I'm going try and include everything mentioned during the development next year.

But please note that this forum will close on December 31st, 11:59pm EST. Version 6 will be FEATURE-LOCKED after that and I won't accept any other ideas.

Well, I PMed you some suggestions way back in January. But I guess I'll list some stuff for everyone to see & comment on.

• Better linkage between the forum & SSA stuff
• An enhanced article system - pagination, images, comments, ratings, links, RSS feeds, better search & listing capabilities, etc.
• A revamped game hosting system - ratings, comments, walkthroughs, image galleries, linkage with forum accounts, better search & listing capabilities, etc.

That's all I can think of atm.

Linkage of Forum + SSA

I'm actually thinking about two different things: Starting with a fresh user account and forum integrated from the get-go OR adapting what's currently in the system and attaching the accounts together from what we have now. I'm not sure what I'll be doing.

Article System
Everything mentioned except for RSS feeds are on the docket. I don't see the need for it. Some of the current systems are piece-mealed from other scripts. I know a lot more than I did in 2006, and I can't wait to show it off.

Game Hosting
Is there still a need for comments? I do not know. However, there will be a need to integrate more SSA information into the forums.

Any plans to upgrade to PHPBB3?

Further - any plans for the following to be added/integrated to the forums: Rep/Karma or badges/awards/etc. (I actually programmed my own badge & karma system for PHPBB3 back when it first came out and there were no mods available for it). Just curious. Not necessarily a suggestion. Though, I really love badges.

Don't know.... Maybe comments would be good for things like posting glitches that have been found, or asking questions... anything short of a full game review.

Can you do slide shows of game images or small vid clips of games in the game vault? Just a thought.

And I made a karma system a while ago, but it only seems to lead to drama. I removed it. Some type of badge system? What would it be used for?

Yes, both of those could be done, but it would require the people in question to create the video clips.

Back when I was leading an RPGMXP project, I programmed a badge system so that everyone on the team could clearly see what department all the other members were in. It was mostly utilitarian, but we had some fun badges - like if we held some kind of contest or game, then the winner would get a little badge under their avatar. We had three badge sizes: small, medium, and large. The larger the badge, the more general it was, and it represented the user's official role. For example: Admins have a big "Admin" badge at the top, below that are lesser badges like award badges, or ones that represent a person's skills (in my case, programming), or that they have made a major contribution.

It's partly a status thing, partly fun, and serves a basic purpose of letting people know who all the admins and moderators are, along with their abilities, skills, experience, etc.

At the very least it livens up the boring old user-info area on the side of each post. Adds some color. Just a thought.

I don't think our community is large enough for that to be of any use.

Can you program the site to produce little CD sized pizzas to come out of my CD-rom if I eject it?

I think that feature is coming out in HTML 6 due in 2030.

The funny thing is, by 2030, that might actually become true.
