I've noticed a few threads about console and handheld updates, so I thought I'd try to condense them all to one thread.

So yeah, if new CFW comes out for handhelds and such, or if the Wii makes an update that bricks its self, or you find a new feature really interesting on xbox or playstation, hit this thread up.

Here's one for the 360. A new update is hitting the 360 next month. But it's nothing good, trust me. I know at least a few people who use third party memory cards for storage. After this update, those WILL NO LONGER WORK ON THE 360. So your 4 gig Datel cards will be rendered obsolete. Fair warning.

WTF!!!!

Could a please get a source?
I just talked Faeus into buying one and they already get great use. We put all our RockBand DLC on them (3.9gigs for me, 4.7 for Feaus) and then we can play with all our songs on one system when we play together. That in itself was worth the cost. DAMN IT!!!

Its not like using those cards are changing the modders or hackers or gamesavers toolsets! They still have software that allows a pc to read and write 360 formatted drives as well as alter the code within. The only difference is, now you don't need to go to GameStop and spend ten dollars on a MemUnit to USB adapter, which is readily available at all the gamestops in my area as well as the *OH MY GOD* internet!.

Lantis I know it isn't your doing but damn if I don't wanna plant a fist right in your face. kidding of course

*transfers profile and save from a roomy 4 gig to a cramped 512MB*

And what do you know... Game saves and my profile alone don't fit. No xbla games are on it, no dlc. Just my profile and saves. Time to go buy another tiny 50 dollar MemUnit. f*cking MS!

Is the update forced?

Sounds like I might want to get my 360 online soon.

I was about to put a 250GB hdd in my 360 until I remembered this damn 360 update that is looming over our heads. The mod is perfectly within reach and requires little work, I just think I will wait to see if anyone gets banned for using non-M$ hardware... Even though, as far as I understand how this works, it shouldn't be detectable by anyone who doesn't physically see my xbox isn't the Modern Warfare 2 edition.

New update on the 360 today.
This update surprised the hell outta me!

Get this.
M$ now allows us to use any usb flash drive between 1 and 16 GB for storage of all 360 items!

I know right?

Here's a link to some info http://www.xbox.com/en-US/storage

I tried it with a 4GB and it worked great!

I'm not savvy enough so what do you mean by "I know right?" Is it that it is awesome and completely unexpected, or maybe it is something long overdue?

Also do you know what the deal is with Market Place Games On Demand? There is a Fable II free download that is described exactly like the $19.99 version but it is only 1.79 GB instead of around 6 GB which is really the full game. So what is it exactly that is free and why is it in Games On Demand instead of Add-Ons?

When I say "I know right?" I mean of all companies, Microsoft decided to allow third party storage. Especially after saying that they will never allow the usb ports to write in order to prevent piracy.

As for the Fable II Q: (spoilered as its off topic)
And the "free" (yes quotes!) FableII thing you see is just the first one fifth of the game as an episode. They did fableII on demand in episodes instead of as a whole. You play up until some point and then you have to buy the next episodes to continue. You can not, however, delete the previous episodes as you progress because they contain necessary data for the following episodes. So all in all, you already own the full game but if you didn't and wanted to try it, the free episode is just an extended demo.

Thanks to both answers. As to the usb port, why do you think Microsoft changed if in fact they were concerned with piracy?

Because with NXE you HAVE TO have somewhere to put the update. That's why they eliminated the Arcade without memory and started shipping it with MemUnits. But it may in fact be in preparation for something down the road. I can only hope that it has something to do with Zune Music Marketplace although I am 98% sure that is not the case. Maybe they need it for Natal to work. I dunno.

PSP OFW 6.30 just released.

Changes? Well they added a feature that is a direct knock off of Game Categories.

Why a full update just for that you ask?
You see that's not what the update was for. Really it is to close an exploit in a demo game that allows psp3000 users and Go users to use HalfByte which allows the use of homebrew.

FYI, Wii Users, if you want to use Homebrew on your console, DO NOT UPGRADE TO 4.3!

Its entire purpose is to shut down homebrew programs like the Homebrew Channel and stuff. There are no extra features in it. Wait until the guys make a new version of their Homebrew programs before upgrading.

Edit:

Congrats on your post GET (2112), Insultobot!

PSP OFW 6.37 released.
Sony has released PSP Firmware update 6.37, this update has fixed the 6.35 HEN exploit and other user mode exploits have also been patched. Its confirmed that user signed homebrew still works. I suggest you don’t update. Unless you don’t want HEN… PSP Firmware 6.37 changelog: This is a minor update that improves system software

In unrelated news...

PSP CFW 6.37 released!
to install you need to download 6.37OFW as well.
…for PSP-2000 (non-v3) only. And as far as stability goes, well that remains to be seen… From the read me: “The degree of stability is still unknown. Please test it on your own and refer to different people’s test reports.” So yeah, ensure your Pandora battery is ready to go.
neur0n’s latest custom firmware packs a cool “dual-booting” feature I’ve yet to see anywhere. Pressing and holding the “Home” button, from a cold boot, will boot into OFW — Sony’s official 6.37 firmware, while, of course pressing and holding nothing boots CFW.

PSP Custom Firmware 6.37 ME Features
Recovery Menu: accessible when holding R Trigger from a cold boot.
OPNSSMP: lets you run ISOs without decrypting (or patching) EBOOT.BIN if the game’s required firmware is lower than 6.37. Enable this under Recovery Menu -> Advanced -> Advanced Config -> Execute OPNSSMP.bin

Here's what I have on it so far:
I have a Pandora battery and magic memory stick from 5.00 M33-4 still. If it doesn't work out, I will go back to 5.50 Gen D3 Pro4.

So far, install worked fine. Apps work (Tested Filer, and Bookr I figure other apps will too. Bookr will crash if autoload last open book is on and Bookr was last used under a GameCat _Cat folder, to fix delete bookmarks.xml), Minis ISOs work, UMD ISOs work, physical UMDs work, homebrew games work, emulators work (tested NesterP and Rin), games purchased from PSN work on this CFW. Before, on 5.50 Prometheus4, CLADUN and WildArms PS1, which I purchased on MediaGO software, would not launch. They would only work on my other PSP running OFW.

Plugins are not supported. The PSP will crash if they are enabled.

PSN PS1 eboots (not purchased from PSN) do NOT work (error 80010002), PS1 eboots do NOT work as they require POPS and won't load.

Using DualBoot under 6.37OFW, none of the items above work unless they were purchased from PSN under your account or you are using a UMD. I purchased Wild Arms PS1 and CLADUN using Media Go on the PC and synced with Media Go and both launched under OFW.

For those not upgrading but wish to use PSNLover, here's the 6.37's version.txt
Attachment:
version.txt

::EDIT::
Here's version five of CFW6.37ME with multidisc PS1 support!
Attachment:
release637me5.zip

Description: neur0n's (early) PSP Custom Firmware 6.37 ME (Minimum Edition). CFW 6.37 ME is for PSP-2000 (non-TA088v3) only.
v2= Update NidResolver. Bug fix.
v3= Add iso driver.("Normal -UMD required-" and "ME driver -NO UMD-")
v4= Converted PS1 support. Supports the categorization in the iso folder with GCL.
v5= Support multi disc PS1. Bug fix.

PSP 6.38 OFW is out. Same changelog as 6.37 so....
Here's the version.txt to keep you online.

Toggle USB mode from the XMB to FLASH 0. Do this by hitting select to bring up the VSH menu and selecting it. Another method is to boot the system up in recovery mode and change the selection there. Remember to change it back and not to alter anything else!

Put version.txt in:
memstickFLASH0
-vsh
--etc

delete the existing one as it is now useless.

:::EDIT:::

One day later and here is CFW 6.38MEv1!
