Okay, so when you try to turn on your controller and Xbox and the console doesn't pick the controller up, the controller does this flashy thing like it's trying to find the 360 but just refuses to do so. The only way I've found to make it stop is to just remove the batteries for a moment then try again. Isn't there a better way of doing this?

Well, you can just try turning your console on with JUST the controller. That way it'll sync up before the xbox is even all the way on.

Yeah, if you turn on your controller, it will turn on the xbox it is synced with.

You ever notice how people just repeat what others say just to make themselves sound smart, like a know it all, or just plain right?

But it's always nice to have a second opinion, yesno?

Actually this is a bit dumb on Microsoft's part, as the PS3 and Wii have no such issue. (in fact I think if you only have one controller linked with the Wii, and turn the system on at the console, it turns the controller on automatically)

have you tried to hold the Xbox button on the controller down for a few seconds?

Not so much. Both the PS3 and Wii will leave their controllers off it the console is turned on. And that's for the better anyways.

And the 360 controller isn't near as rediculous as the Wii controller. Not only is there no way to charge it while playing, but you actually have to take the batteries or pack out of the controller... because for some dumb ass reason, the Wii controller will drain the batteries even when powered off. AND what's more, if I want to play a gamecube game (which I acutally play more gamecube games than wii games) I can't use a gamecube controller to nagivate the menu and run the game. I have to go fish out a wii remote, get the batteries, run the game, and then pull the batteries out.

PS3 is the only console that got this right, really. No replacable batteries, or separately sold battery packs. And it charges on any old USB cable (USB A to B). Both 360 and Wii require you buy separate and proprietary hardware.

That's news to me. The only time I've found batteries drained in my Wiimote is when it got stuck between the cushions, where I presume buttons got pressed and it tried listening to those presses.

But you probalby play yours so much that you don't really have time to notice. I can go weeks without touching my wii controllers... and after coming back to them, they'd all be dead.

I don't play Wii as often as you'd think. There aren't any batteries in the controller right now, though. Figure since I haven't been playing, the batteries could be put to better use.

yet one more reason that the PlayStation controller is the worlds most perfect controller. :^_^

I disagree. I still love the Xbox 1's Controller S.

So wrong. The 360 controller is far superior in comfort and natural layout. I used to agree with your statement but after OG Xbox (like Dray says, 'S' version) I just couldn't anymore. However, everyone has their own vision of comfort so I guess this doesn't matter. At least we can all agree that after SNES, Nintendo controllers suck.

I always found Xbox controllers to be unnecessarily bulky, even the s version. As was already said, though, it's all opinion. Still a big fan of good old fashioned PS1 controllers. You know, (roughly) the same design they've been using since they first put in analog sticks.

I've only played one game with the wireless controller function, on the ps3, but I found it to be very intuitive. Controller turned itself off when the ps3 was off, didn't get turned on by the system itself, no batteries required. Hope this kind of thing catches on with the other systems that apparently didn't quite get it right.

I agree with Staffy and Stythe. The xbox controllers are way too large... and actually kind of heavy in comparison. And brownie points for Sony for finding a wonderful layout and NOT f*cking WITH IT. DO YOU HEAR ME, NINTENDO?!

Even the Controller S? That thing felt so very comfortable in my hands. And I had hoped it'd be the same with the 360 controller, but they apparently changed the shape of it a bit, and it's not as good.

Actually built in batteries are not the way to go if you want to keep playing your system for a long time to come. Once your battery stops being able to hold full charge there isn't much you can do about it, and I would much rather purchase some new rechargeable AA's then have to buy a whole new controller. So I guess if you don't play on playing your system for more than a few years that's fine, but otherwise your wireless controllers will become wired ones.

So I think the best approach would be to have removable non-proprietary batteries but have the option to power (optionally charge) the controller from the console (via USB more than likely).

But I think Sony and MS have the superior controller schemes, since you can turn off a controller without having to take out the batteries (hitting the power button on a wiimote that is on will turn the system off). And I think the XBox has the best connection scheme since it gives visual indication it's searching, unlike the Wii where you just have to keep hitting the connect buttons in a random order and hope it works (an exaggeration, but still not as easy as XBox).

I was concerned about this as well... but I have one of the first model (PS2 BC) PS3's, and the pack-in controller runs seemingly just as long as it did on day one. On the other hand, I've had battery packs on the 360 get old and die out over time. Considering this, I have spent more money on 360 controller hardware than I have PS3... and what's more, I owned a PS3 quite a few months before I got a 360.

Okay, for comparison, let's look at the original DS, which also had a propriotory battery. I haven't used mine in a while, but can anybody vouch for how long it lasts so far?
