Influenced by a couple older entries on MoeMoe Rabu, I decided to do something similar.

I'm going to make two lists of anime females. The first list, the Yellow Rose, is characters I adore but wouldn't call a waifu. The second list, the Red Rose, is characters who I would call my waifu.

The top five of the Red Rose are the ones I'd like to get to know really well. Other than those five, though, the order of either list is meaningless.

I gave the list a cut off of being made/aired no longer than five years ago to make my choices easier. Some older characters made it in anyway, because they're exceptionally amazing.

Aaand that's it. I very much invite all of you to point out patterns in my choices (whether to make fun or not) because I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what it is I look for in my anime girls. >_>

(To be honest, though, I'm starting to think I have a preference for "damaged goods" type characters. Either I'm a terrible person, or that's the protective male in me showing itself. Who knows.)

Sadly, I know jack squat about anime. If I did, this list would probably be quite titillating.

But, the "damaged goods" thing really isn't uncommon. People who've suffered physical and or psychological trauma can elicit all kinds of feelings in others that a "normal" person couldn't. It's like when you see a hurt puppy - you just want to hold it gently, make it feel better, and show it that the world isn't quite so cruel as it may think. Of course, then you have people that purposely take on the role of someone who is sick or suffering just to take advantage of this "Hurt Puppy" phenomenon. The medical terms are "Malingering" & "Factitious Disorder". Umm... Yeah...

So, nice list; sorry I can't appreciate it better.

Hooray for Shiori and Yume. ^_^ The level of cuteness overpowers SK.



But, I must ask, Stythe, what's up with including Rena and Shiki in a list like this? Not that i know them, but they look kinda ... scary, you know?

I mean, I don't know what "waifu" means, but I imagine this is still basically a list of anigirls you might wish existed in reality for obvious reasons, so that is why I must question the inclusion of a girl holding a lethal weapon and smiling wickedly, and another whose face is stained with blood that likely does not belong to her. Forgive me for being so blunt.


As for your last question, though, I'd like to think it is because you are the protective male type, not an ***-hole.

Just say it with as heavy japanese accent as possible. It's engrish for "wife."

Well, I could have used super cute images of them, too. But I wanted to include some images that explored other aspects of the characters, rather than have just one of the extremes.

I mean, I could have used all super cute. Or all super scary. A mix is nice.

Without some context, though, it's hard to get any idea who any of these characters are. You probably wouldn't guess that some of them are mute, dying of heart problems, are self mutilators, have multiple personalities, are heavily scarred from accidents in the past etcetc from the images I provided.

So, I wanted to give that context for at least a couple of them. Ended up going with Shiki and Rena.

I'll say it again: "Hurt Puppy" phenomenon.

... Now this is saying something; Luna has reigned as the foremost goddess in anime or video games ever since I first played Lunar:SSS over ten years ago, completely uncontested. Maybe it's the blue hair, but somehow I imagine kissing Luna tastes sort of like Mountain Dew Voltage. ... If you didn't know, I pretty much drool over Mountain Dew voltage to the same degree that Kel Kimble is hard-up for orange soda.

The anime for Koihime was pretty... terrible.
