I looked into it and it would cost less than twenty bucks to do this. I am tempted but in no hurry to begin.
All it takes is a replacement analog from dealextreme and a pcb board from acidmods, and a little soldering.

Actually, isn't it just re-mapping the triangle, circle, square, and X buttons to it? I believe that all the twin stick style games utilize the buttons as a second D-pad.

Yeah it is a remapping (thought I mentioned that, sorry) but for games like Half-Life and Goldeneye and Perfect Dark and... well any FPS, I can't stand using the face buttons. I would love to have the second nub, even if it is a remapping. And with certain plugins, you adjust sensitivity of the nubs to be near analog. Not that the games themselves supported analog anyway. Anyway, remap the controls so that the right stick moves and the left is aim, and I am a happy gamer. Besides, it just seems like a cool fun mod to do.

I have been playing some GBA games on my PSP recently and couldn't get gameshark/action replay codes to work. So I found this video that was very helpful and just thought I would share.

I Hope Im not intruding, but me myself I have a hacked PSP, its one of the slim 3000 models that dont need a pandora battery or anything to load custom firmware. Anybody else rocking a slim or bright, or am I the only one?

We are using 1000 and 2000 models. The 3000 CFW is very interesting in that it has to be handled completely differently. And that it isn't flashing the bios and once you turn off your PSP3k, not just standby, you have to redo the CFW. Unless things have changed for the 3000 in recent months. If so please do share.

I have a 1000 with CFW 5.00M33-6 and a 2000 with CFW 5.50gen-D3 and lastly a 2000 with OFW 6.xx so I can (properly and FULLY) connect to PSN for games like LBP and in anticipation for Phantasy Star Portable 2, which is going to be online multiplayer rather than adhoc only like the first.

Here's a few more PSP side apps to look into.

Fusa Game Pad: use your PSP as a plug and play controller for PC and PS3.

Adhoc File Transfer: transfer files wirelessly between PSP's without a PC middleman.

PSP Filer: manage all files on your memory stick from within the PSP. Great for when you can't get to a PPC or your can't find your USB cable.

Bookr: a reader for PSP. Supports a few file types

Dayviewer
Attachment:
dayviewer-v7_1264415047.zip

Lets you customize the date/time/battery line on the XMB. I made mine say my name on the line below.

Took me long enough, but I finally ordered a new case for my PSP-2000. I also got a bigger carrying case in anticipation of my vacation in a couple weeks. I just hope it all arrives before I leave.

Here's what I got:
New Batteries X2
Battery wall charger X1
Travel Bag X1
Pandora Tool X1 (my home made one finally stopped holding a charge)
Replacement Housing X1
Replacement Analog X1

In other news, you no longer need a pc to dump UMD's to ISO's! You can use Takka's UMD Dump PRX and put the ISO directly on the MemStick. Then, with Takka's ISO Tool, you can even convert it to CSO and CSO to ISO. Unfortunately, UMD Dump is currently only Japanese, but the ISO Tool has been translated to English. I am waiting for full English on both.

Fusa Game Pad is awesome. I thought it was going to be horribly laggy too, but it's not. And congrats on your latest hardware purchase.

I'll be using this as soon as I get home. I've always wanted to move things around. I've even gone so far as deleting files and then individually copy them over in a specific order just to have them listed the way I want.

This is win.

I thought I already posted this, but here's a nice program to make multi disc PS1 games into a single eboot for PSP. It can take games that are up to 5 discs and allow custom images, thumbs, and music for the xmb viewing as well as a custom screen on boot up of the game.

ImpalerPSX
or attached
Attachment:
impalerpsx.rar

I also just found a site that has many game manuals and walkthroughs that are .dat so you can just place them in the folder with the eboot and then, while playing the game, hit home and view the walkthrough or manual.
Here's the site :http://www.psxpspmanuals.com/read.php?8,1455

Here's a really great Homebrew game

Swarm v1.0

You are the orange rectangle and you avoid the rest. Green give you health.
This is a simple but very fun game to play. Especially when you have just a few minutes to kill.

Reminds me of Pacifism Mode in Geometry Wars 2... well, except you can (for the lack of better terms) word-wrap around the edges.

I like to think of it as Atari Warp. Like the old game Football or Asteroids.

::Edit::
first off, yes I did just copy my original post here, delete it, and then pasted it here above "::Edit::" just so this shows up as a new post

That dirty little trick aside...

NEWS EVERYONE!
Promethus v0.3 released meaning we can now play most of our 6.20 games on CFW 5.50Gen and below (including the speedier 5.00 M33-6 woot!)

To make it work, you will also need two other programs in that are also in the above link. Easy peasy.

Now I just need to preorder Phantasy Star Portable 2 and hope it runs on 6.20. Of course if it doesn't, that's why I have an unmodded PSP as well.

I sure do like to double post in this topic... But I think (again) this warrants it.

I am working on the dual nub mod.
I just finished taking apart my secondary psp2001.
My PSP went from this:

to this:

Just ignore the blue nub in the second pic for now, it won't be installed for some time still.

and there are still more parts to take apart within the pic *sigh*
So much time to do this. And the solder points are crazy tiny.

Looks really cool. I can imagine how hard it will be to reassemble everything, though. I had lots of trouble with the PS1 controllers. Had to go through several of them before I figured out how to do it right.

But you don't have 100 PSPs to practice with. :P

Keep at it. I'm interested in seeing what it looks like when it's all finished.

That looks awesome. Best of luck with the mod. Too bad there aren't too many games that it use the buttons as directional buttons.

well there's a plugin that lets you assign any button function to any button/button combo
including auto fire

theoretically, with that, you could add L2 and R2 if you make your own buttons.

...I might work on that too!!
