If you have a sweet tooth of any kind, you should try this out.

Step by step, with images and directions, you're going to make:

Image

It may look kind of scary, but it'll last you several days of desserts or snacks. And.. it's heavenly amounts of delicious.

So, you start with this:

Image

The exact ingredients you will need:

1 sleeve of salted crackers
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of butter/margarine
3/4 cup of pecans
2 cups of chocolate chips (semi-sweet)

First thing you need to do is pre-heat your oven to 400F. While preheating, set a burner to max.

Image
Image
Image

While the oven is preheating, you're going to be making caramel. Melt up that cup of butter, and then throw in the cup of brown sugar. Mix very, very well. Once it's mixed and boiling, let it boil for 3 minutes.

Image

While your caramel is boiling, line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil (or be prepared to spend a lot of time cleaning your cookie sheet later) and then spread out a pack of salted crackers over the foil. A standard sized cookie sheet should use up the entire package. Mine left 5-6 crackers unused.

Image

Once the three minute boiling session is over, spread your caramel over the sheet of crackers well. As you can see, I didn't do very well on that part, and I have some burned cracker in my finished project. Don't slack here.

Once your crackers are completely covered in your caramel sauce, slide the tray into the oven and bake at 400F for 5-6 minutes. Maybe use this time to prepare lots of juice or something, as this stuff will make you thirsty.

Image

After the baking time is over, you'll need your two cups of chocolate chips. Measure that out, and then pull the sheet of crackers out of the oven.

Image

Spread the chocolate chips out over the sheet. No need to be particularily careful, it'll all melt in a couple of minutes. Kinda. Just let it sit for a few.

Image
Image

While waiting for the chocolate to melt, measure out 3/4 cup of pecans and chop until you're satisfied.

Image
Image

By the time you're done chopping your pecans, the chocolate chips should be more than ready to be spread. If you've never worked with chocolate chips like this before, don't worry that they still look like solid chips. They'll spread real easy. I just used the back of a spoon.

Also, spread out all your chopped pecans over top of the chocolate immediately after spreading it.

Image
Image

Place the whole tray into the fridge (or leave it out and sitting, fridge is just faster) until completely cooled. Once it's cooled, you should be able to lift the whole thing right out of the tray and it'll be solid.

Image

Proceed to break it apart violently, or cut carefully into patterns of your choice. I opted to break it apart - very messy. Put the whole thing on a plate or an array of plates, and serve.

Freezer safe, too.

Enjoy!

If Ixz didn't have a peanut allergy, he'd be all over that.

But I actually will be over that. I'll replace the pecans with something else.

Yeah, it's actually pretty good. It tastes sorta like a chocolate-covered pretzel, except not bitter. I took a row down with some milk. Good sh*t.
