Divinity II for the XBOX 360.

I just tried out the demo and it felt like RPGM3 in current gen form. Just run around with your character and look at the buildings, object sets, landscape, and character layouts. It has both the higher resolution feel of the current gen but relatively inferior graphics (like the pragmatic requirements) of a typical RPGM.

This is assuming it would look more like RPGM3 than 1 or 2. I think for the console specifically it is more likely to look like RPGM3 style wise.

It also has text based menus that seem reminsicent of RPGMs in general.

Make sure you look at the gameplay as opposed to the cinemas starting at 2:43.

Oh, yeah, and it reminds me a little of Ixzion's April Fool's images (even though we should never speak of that again).

It almost does look like a current-gen RM. However, I would like the next RM to be totally 2D, so they can use more space and power.

I personally feel 2.5D would be very interesting and intriguing to both. You get 3D worlds, with 2D character designs.

That's an interesting idea. Why hadn't anybody thought of it, before?

I've always loved that game style. Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears, the Disgaea series, La Pucelle Tactics, Phantom Brave, battles from Star Ocean, the Wild Arms series... just to name a few. Plus, if it was RM, I'd assume we'd still be able to edit sprites and import them quite easily seeing as they are still just 2D sprite sheets.

I like how Tales of Vesperia does it.

I love the anime character artwork that blends into the 3D landscape. Something like this would be amazing.

You know Baldur's Gate style (which is not the 2.5 style you guys are talking about) also reminds me of a future RPGM3-esque next gen RPGM because it has (compared to RPGM3) more vibrant and detailed graphics but the dungeons look exactly like RPGM3 in that they seem predrawn in 2D and then rendered in 3D (i.e. a lot of sharp 90 degree angles even in "natural" terrain).

I admit that the 2.5 style would probably be ideal for fans of RPGM1 or XP but not for fans of RPGM3. But I give you that it is "RPG" Maker and not "Adventure" or "Survival Horror" maker.

As far as RPGs go it depends on if the next gen RPGM gameplay is more like Fable, Oblivion, etc. or more like the 2.5 games you guys mention.
