So the other day I discovered some of my friends were otakus and just for kicks I went to an anime event with them.

Dude. I've never seen so many strange people together.

It's funny, how a person has no qualms about going up on a stage wearing a ridiculous costume and mouth-syncing to a terrible dub of an obscure anime, but when you go and talk to them they're shy and awkward. And then you have people who seem normal and then they have a mic in their hands singing in japanese some terrible J-pop song and doing the gayest dance ever.

It was a hot sunny day and I was the only person in the building who was not wearing heavy pants and/or jacket (90% of them black).
