I originally created a topic over two years ago (now locked) to show this but I never received any feedback.

It was in "Help me out with YouTube. I must get this out there!":

It involved 2 different YouTube videos both of which have since been removed, so I found these two. Don't try this if you haven't seen Star Wars Phantom Menace yet (what are you waiting for?) because
Open two windows simultaneously (i.e. neither maximized) and:

In the first go to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5Pi6zpz_Oo

Keep it paused at 0:00 and turn the volume high.


In the second go to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPLXwrj7i7Q

Turn the volume all the way down and play it at about 00:40. Then when the time hits half way between 00:52 and 00:53, press play on the first window and as long as there are no freezes, skips or lag, let them both play until they are both complete.

Tell me what you think.

Okay so I tried it.

I was just thinking "oh, this syncs up quite well" until the part where . HOLY SKYDIVING JESUS that was perfect. And the end was nice, too. I'm baffled. Thanks for sharing.

How did you discover that?

I only tried cuz Gnash said it was cool. I was very surprised that it all matched up so well. The last 2 seconds were a little funny to me. I dunno.

I was gonna be cool and embed the vids at the appropriate start times but, with our new embedding, the url appendices no longer work.

The cool thing is that the original Phantom Menace video (which was removed by the user I think) synced up even better toward the end. This video uses fades from scene to scene which slightly trims the the timing. The original video that I mentioned in the locked topic used direct cuts from scene to scene so it had even better syncro. I think I saw it reposted but I didn't test it and I forgot to look for it today. I just used this one because I was hoping it was good enough, didn't have time to look for the other one, and because the other one had some kind of captioning.

To answer your question (The Gnasher) originally I was listening to the Tiesto song off Tiesto's Myspace and was looking up that Star Wars scene for some reason. Then I thought it would be cool to see if any part of it synced with the section you hear at 1:46 on Tiesto. I tried to sync earlier in the Phantom Menace video and that looked OK, but then I found the part where it now stands and couldn't believe how ridiculously well it synced. To demonstrate it, I found a YouTube link that had the Tiesto song, and from that point it was a matter of calculating how early in the Star Wars video to start it with the Tiesto link at 0:00 hoping that the earlier part of the song synced reasonably well with the earlier part of the Star Wars video, which it did.

Please spread the word.

There is a little blip at the end which could have synced up a bit better, but That could have also been obi wan turning his light saber off. (out of view.)

In the first Youtube of "Pirates" that I used to use (which has since been taken down) that blip was there as well, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't there in Tiesto' MySpace version where I first got the idea to try to sync them. I'm not sure where it came from. I think Obiwan is seen turning off the lightsaber after the blip right before the last couple frames of the scene. I think we can forgive it though for how well all the rest fits each other.
