Big games of '09:
Jut like last year, make a resoultion or statement about what you'd like to do in the year 2009 for rpg maker.

I think stating Arcadia Mania would be finished is a bit out of my reach. However, I would, at the very least, like to get a demo before the year's end for Arcadia Mania.

Okay, I would like to say that I'm definately going to put out Arc Arath this year. But still afraid that, like the year before it, not deliver. But last year I was pretty sure I wasn't which is why I didn't claim for it to be done in '08.

But as close as we are, I'm going to go ahead and say, yeah... it should be done this year. If nothing else, I know that we'll be able to finish the game entirely if nothing but the story. I'm not expecting battle to take near as long as storyline and dunegon making.

Hehe....I'm kinda scared to make a prediction, as I just finished looking at what I resolved/what I accomplished last year.


But I still think I can release a demo of S3 (farming/dating sim, currently lacking the dating aspect), as it's been finished for a few years now...in the same state as it was for the Mag preview. The reason I held off on this in 2008 is that I wanted a second opinion besides the preview, and it's not been forthcoming. I'd like to polish it up a bit as well, as right now, there's no specific "stopping point," as the game is extremely open-ended in nature.

So again, I'm gonna claim that as a project for the year.

I'm also the sole judge in the RPGM3 minigame contest at the Pav, which ends on Sunday, January 18th. So, this is gonna be a gimme for year's end...I resolve to play through and judge all the entries in the contest.

In the next two weeks, I'd LIKE to make my own minigame to be submitted alongside the other entries, but for community support only, not for entry into the contest. This, however, I'm NOT claiming as a resolution.

Again, I have enough content to release S4: A Dark Day Dawns Episode 1 as a demo, but I'd rather not.

As for full-fledged projects, I have about 3-5 other unfinished (read: barely started) projects for RPGM3 on my PS3's virtual memory cards, which most likely will not be released this year.


My main (read: current) idea is still brewing, but as I'm not THAT far into it, I'm almost hesitating on doing anything else with it until I see what's happening with Action Game Maker (hopefully) later this year, as I think it might be more suited to that platform.


So, to wrap up, I resolve as follows:

1) Release one demo this year (be it S3 or S4 Ep. 1)
2) Judge and submit results for the Pav's RPGM3 minigame contest
3) And just because both of those are really kinda gimmes, I'm gonna go out on a limb and resolve to submit to the RPGM community one other project (minigame, demo, garbage time-waster, etc), but it will probably NOT be a full game by any stretch of the imagination.

So there you have it!

Holy-Chaos: Prophecies Unleashed will be released this year. No doubt in my mind. I just have to step away from RPGM1 long enough for that to happen.

as long as i keep focused i think i can finish most of crystal shores this year. lord help me if i have to spend yet another year on this project but ill be damned if i dont finish it. focus, thats the name of the game.

Best of luck to everyone this year, but don't rush yourself. I'd rather you take some extra time to do it right than rush just for the sake of finishing it. Put some extra effort into it. Go that extra mile. Put a rough draft on the shelf, let it sit for a few months, then come back to it with a fresh point of view. It'll be worth it.

Well, the more I try to rush things, the more likely I tend to delete anything I rushed to redo it. That's the reason why my game has about 2 hours of game play and 181 hours of game making. :blush
(Oh, and the fact that I accidentally overwrote all my scenario data when I was in the 60 hours mark)
I Still have a week before become horribly busy, but there's always summer (and weekends) to finish whatever's left.

Preemptive fail.

A fourth of this year is gone and SK and I have made no progress. If you are active in my studio, then you'd know why. But yeah, if we release in 09, I'll be suprised.

Almost completed my yet to be named game. It'll be my first completed and released RPGM3 game. Pretty excited about it, I'm not sure how it'll rank among the rest of the games, but I'm confident it'll get a bit of attention based on the level design(I painstakingly logged in a lot of hours building the terrain). I will be releasing this project within a month or two, been keeping at a steady pace with programming and re-programming to take out unnecessary coding to save on space in order to add more flavor to the game.

I haven't touched Prophecies Unleashed in like 6 months, but I'm pretty sure if I devoted a week I could get it released. I just need another solid playthrough to get some spelling errors out.

A month behind my personal scheduled release, but the game is still coming along... Running out of space though... :S

This game boasts several jobs and character classes.

I took a page (unintentionally but with obvious same page game creative intentions) out of Pagerron's book with the random battles. I didn't want this game to be so random battle heavy based, but with any dedication, the more a player battles, the better equipment upgrade the player can switch up to. Certain items are only obtainable through battles. Without the battle obtained weapons/armor items, finishing the game will be much more challenging.

This is just a first of a few games I plan on creating, it is by no means the greatest game ever. But more so a test on the RPG Maker limits. I currently have 9% memory left to work with and seem to be quickly running out of room. But with a bit of creativity, I'll be able to have this monster of an RPG completed and looking nicely. I estimate maybe one more month(hopefully less) until completion.

I am a couple weeks behind my original schedule. I started playing Chrono Trigger on a whim after I came to a part in Acre-age that would require a lot of typing. I didn't use to be so intimidated by it, but now that I know how to type well, it feels like going backward.

Oh well, I'm still on the scene and I have the entire game penned, so it's just a matter of time now.
