You guys had to have known this was coimg seeing as this is my favorite game of all time. This will be a rather long one, but it'll be fun. Chrono Trigger was made back in 1995 on the SNES. It was ported with extra content on the PS, and then once more on the DS with even more content like extra dungeons and such. Chrono Trigger has many unique aspects that aren't in any other RPG, or if done in other RPGs... they aren't done near as well. So yeah, I'm looking forward to this one.

SK and I are playing the SNES version. Though I have a working SNES and working copy of the game, we are going with emulation. The rom we are using has a few modifications like "Terra from FF6 is Crono's mom" which should spice things up. We are aslo planning on doing all of the optional stuff, so you pretty much see everything there is to offer. We are also playing on Active mode instead of Wait mode, so this won't be TOO much of a cake walk. And we plan on picking up all the techs the game has to offer, which is a whopping 116 (that's all single, double, and triple techs) Anyway, here we go.

And here is a .rar file with the FAQ I wrote for CT, as well as Tempest Battle and Ultimate Trivia that I showed off in the third bonus video (must be logged in to download).

I was just thinking earlier today, "wouldn't it be funny if I beat Lantis to LPing Chrono Trigger?"

So much for that idea. :P

And I just realized, I'm going to want to beat the game if I am to watch your LP.

I would have laughed if you had gotten to it first, Dray. ... Because I would have gotten front-row seats to seeing Lantis cry like a five-year-old kid whose ice cream cone was taken out of hand by the family dog.

Update... two new episodes. These didn't go so well as this is definately the hardest part of Chrono Trigger.

Lack of interest kind of killed my desire to updated this thread as each episode was release... so here's 7.

That finishes up this LP. Had fun with it.... hope you did too.

Yeah, sorry, I never got around to doing that whole "finish Chrono Trigger so I can watch the LP" thing. :P

This LP has inspired me to replay CT. I've currently only just gone into the past for the first time to 600 AD.

I finally got around to finishing watching these LPs. I sorta spoiled myself watching this one, but I think I got far enough on my own that it's no big deal (Frog's subquest was the last thing I had to do before going into the Dark Omen). Dang, that final battle looks hard. I'm gonna have my work cut out for me when I get there. Actually, it reminded me of this portion of a final battle: http://www.adventurers-comic.com/d/20050726.html

Also, you should totally take my advice and LP Chrono Cross.

Now, that LP's out of the way. Only 155 more videos to catch up through.

It was only as hard as it was for two reasons. The first: we were playing the entire game on active mode... so that guy was going all out. The second was that it was astronomically rare to have the entire party stopped at the same time. That spell is suppose to be RANDOM status effects, not just stop. Poison, confuse, lock, ect are all possible from that attack. But to have it happen twice in a row?

I've been playing Chrono Trigger for over a decade and that has never happened to me... not even once.

    About Chrono Cross:

MAYBE. Cross and I have a very... unhealthy relationship. On it's own game, it's okay... I guess. But as a sequel to Chrono Trigger, it's almost insulting. The storyline gets overly complicated like Xenogears when it was never ment to be. Chrono Trigger did the whole time thing but never actually confused the player... in Chrono Cross, once you hit the Dead Sea, you'll be lucky to know what the hell's actually going on. Also, the battle system is a spit in Trigger's face. 8 characters in Trigger and 45 possible double techs and 15 triple. So how many do you think there are with 54 characters? 9 double and 2 triple. And even in battle you can only do any one of them only ONCE in a fight. And speaking of characters... I've always believed that getting party members was a very important part of a RPG. And development of those characters is VITAL. Not in Cross. They'll spam you with half a century of people and over 90% of them have poor development and are just plain flat out dumb. In Trigger, each character had a very carefully developed character that experiences and grows through the entire game.

At least, that's how I see it. But I digress.

I'm still thinking of grinding up 99 level characters in Trigger and making some bonus videos at some point... showing the optional fight and all the optional endings.

I know. That's what would make it entertaining. ;)

Lol, I see what you did thar. I know that if I were to, you'd be hearing me complain a good deal... if that's not a problem.

I don't blame you not wanting to with Cross.. in fact, I'm surprised you got as far as you did with it (well, that is.. whatever point the dead sea is.. and if you ever finished it)

I couldn't get into it. 1.) The massive amount of characters made me feel like there was no 'niche' to fit into and want to see a single character come to fruition. 2.) As you said.. the confusing storyline. It throws you around so much that you consistently can't ground yourself to the story that is revolving around the characters.

    Just... no.

I still hear and read that it's a great game.. but wow.. why force yourself through it.. good game or no.

Oh, I've beaten the game twice. The first time I forced myself to like it because "it was the sequel to Chrono Trigger... of course it's awesome" and my second time through was when I realized that I was lying to my self and I just don't like it.

LOL.. well I hope in the future when you're lying to yourself you find out sooner than after the 2nd time you beat it :D

    OMG LP REVIVAL!

Which I am finally doing. It took me a while to just sit down and grind to max level again. But I have done it yet again. I think that out of all RPGs, Chrono Trigger is the one that I've sat down to grind to max the most times (at least 4 now). So I'm going to be doing bonus videos. And I'll be covering everything that there is in the game. I even have plans to go over the new features in Chrono Trigger DS. At least somewhat... because I don't want to spoil the new stuff they added, but you should at least know what it is. Got to find the best method to record the DS first though. But yeah, check the first bonus video. Second should be out soon.

    Kind of amazed you've bothered to go to 99 so many times. This game has like no really good leveling spaces because nothing f*cking scales. -_-;;

I did it once and never did it again. >_>

There are a few good places to grind. At Death Peak, there's a room that has Krakkers running down the screen. You can get a good 5 of them in one battle and one cast of Lightning 2 or Luminare will knock them all out and get you near 2000 experience. There's also a great place in the Geno Dome on the treadmills. You can leave and come back and repeat that as well. This actually gets you a bit more than Death Peak, but requires more walking.

After 3 videos of extra stuff, I think I can finally put this LP to rest. Thanks for taking a gander.
