I can remember it as if it happened yesterday... they pinned me to the ground, and I couldn't get up. I would have been able to overpower a few of them by myself, but I was badly outnumbered. I couldn't even move.
Cries for help were in vain. And I did cry for help. A lot. But it seem nobody thought I was in real danger.

Until she came.

With that innocent face, she smiled at me while I struggled to get free.
She used one hand to cover my mouth, and the other one to cover my nose. There was no way I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move. And she just smiled.
It was about that time that I really panicked. Somehow I managed to free my hands and push her away from me. One of them jumped on my back, but I swiftly grabbed this arm, and pull him over my head into the ground. 2 more came trying to pin me back down, but I held them away.
I finally stood up.
I was free.
I was alive.
And I was sure I would never lay on the ground in a room full of 4 years old kids...

NOTE: While this is a real story. None of the kids were harmed. They were merely amused.

THEY had me for a second. A little girl DID do that. And she has such a cute innocent face!
That's what I get for volunteering for summer camps.

But I'll admit I lied at the end. I'll surely be back next summer, and when I'm playing with kids, I WILL lay on the ground again. Or at least sit on the floor with them. I like them enough to risk my life.

always carry a hand grenade. that way if things go sour you can always pull the pin and take everyone out. talk about going out with a bang!

I thought that maybe posting it in the creativity forum would lessen the impact.
But again, it really happened. Is it ok to be almost asphyxiated if it was done by a four year old girl? I laugh about it NOW, but I was really scared when it happened.
Then I got angry because I was crying for help, and none of the other counselors did anything since they though it was funny (none of the saw the important part)

Off course it isn't OK to almost be asphyxiated no matter who did it. Obviously both the four year old and the other counselors didn't see anything wrong with it and and you know what, that is the problem with assuming that things from a third person perspective are the same as a first person perspective. Even some in this topic don't seem to appreciate what you went through because of how they think it should appear to them in third person (it was a four year old girl holding the nose of a young man) to how it was to you in first person (you couldn't breath and you were genuinely scared for your life).

I would still try to explain it both to the girl that what she was doing isn't funny (although I don't know how you could do that now to a four yearl old unless it happens again) and the counselors that you guys need to understand each other's needs better.
