Any ideas? I would've figured the opening credits would say, but the only sound-related credit given is Hayato Matsuo for "fu-ma Sound Composer". Does that mean he did the music and sound for RPGM2? Or does that just mean he's responsible for the sound choices used in fu-ma? He's defininately a composer *click*, but his profile doesn't mention any RPG Tsukurus. Might just be because they're not exactly a well-known series, though. Although if he did compose RPGM2's music, the fact that he also composed seven of Final Fantasy 12's songs just makes RPGM2's music all the more impressive. :)

Oh, as an aside, I also think that RPGM3's battle themes are very lacking.

No way. Both RPGM1 and RPGM3 are better. My opinion.

RPGM2 has more variety as well as you can customize every single pitch of the songs, as well as ANY sound you would like to produce.

I understand about the customization. I've always argued the RPGM2 is better for customization than RPGM1 and 3 at just about every level. That is different than the music itself which is only superficially more of a variety. Many of the songs sound the same and are not really good to start with. Compare the variety to RPGM3 which is a true variety of instrumentation, tempo, mood, etc. where every single song is useful and sounds more like something you might find in a movie.

I also thing that RPGM1 has a greater variety than RPGM2, when you look at the instrumention, tempo, mood, etc. if you think of it as something you might find in an old school game. My opinion is that the music itself in RPGM2 is relatively bland and mediocre. I would say at most their was 5 or 6 good songs, only 2 of which I thought were very good. The rest was just filler.

Ah, well don't forget in RPGM2 if you know how to compose music, you can easily make your own in no time flat, also the Music Script Maker transforms your midis into script to use in game. I have composed a couple custom songs, and they turned out pretty darn nice. Your reasons are valid, I do feel RPGM3 has the best "sounding" music out of the makers, in my honest opinion, and RPGM1 brings back the whole nostalgia feel to great SNES/Gameboy RPGS.

I just wish RM1 had ambient noises for tracks... like waves, wind, rain, birds, dripping, ect. That would have really helped in many places in my game already.

Lack of ambient tracks hasn't stopped me from using ambience so far. :P

You know, I never really put much thought about it before, but you're right. A lot of the songs are the same instrumentation. But I find a lot more good songs in it than you do, and RPGM2's music is such that a bunch of songs I can picture a scene that could go with them. I also feel that, despite the similar instrumentations between the songs, they're still more interesting than RPGM1's music, as I notice a bunch of RPGM1's songs have portions that just repeat themselves and just don't sound as natural. There's repeating done in RPGM2's music as well, but the repeats are spruced up with more instruments or leading up to the full force of the song.

Yeah, but there's no way to play it in a loop and let the party walk around. I mean, RM1 has that wave sound effect. You can play that, wait a second, play it again at a lower pitch to get that ocean sound... but the party is frozen when you do it (or at least until the last wave started it's sound).
