I assume you guys will either say NES, Super Nintendo, PS1 or PS2.

My only experience with RPGs is on the PS2 so I can't say.

EDIT: I forgot about the gameboys. I guess those may very will win, but specify which game boy.

PS1 for me. I love that era of RPG goodness. I still go back on occasion and replay some of them. I even bought a PSP based entirely on a port of a PS1 RPG. I feel very for the PS1 RPG's because that was when I first got into the more hardcore side of gaming and amassed an impressive collection. Yes that is boastful but I think it's a fair statement; I have over 130 PS1 games and at least half are RPG's. That's a testament of my love of PS1 RPG's.

But on the current gen... I would argue with myself between 360 and PSP. The Wii is just out and I don't have a PS3 to comment on.

I don't know....

I've played most RPGs on SNES and PS2.

snes has some classics but i think my ps1 library is testament to the heyday of rpgs. its hard to believe that even with such an extensive library i still do not own all the rpgs i ever wanted for it. i guess im gona have to take stock and go on another buying binge when my hours pick up.

SNES had the greatest quality of RPGs, overall. PS1 had lesser quality, but still had plenty of them. Beyond those two, hard to say, I hadn't really delved into RPGaming on the other consoles. Safe to say N64, Xbox and GameCube are on the bottom of the list, though. In that order, from bottom to lesser-bottom. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 is seeming like it's gonna rank up there with the lesser greats.

SNES obviously, I can name many many more quality RPGs for the SNES than I can for PS1 or any other system.

Original Gameboy had quality, and not quanity. Hell, I love some of the RPG's from gameboy, like Final fantasy Legends/Adventure, Great Greed and....yeah, that's about it. Not alot of em, but they rock.

It's because SNES had so many great RPGs: Lufia, Lufia 2, Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 6, Crono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Earthbound, and that is just a small portion of them.

My problem with most Game Boy RPGs that I played was that the largest release group seemed to be during the time that RPGs were still developing their standards, so the gameplay for most of them are a bit archaic. Although, that didn't stop Final Fantasy Legend 3 from being one great (if battle-overflowing) adventure.

SNES till the day I die. PS1 takes a close second (or a backwards compatible PS3, since it can play all PS1, 2 and 3 RPG titles... which is a lot).
