Regarded as a classic and renowned as the best series in the Batman universe. No other shows can come close to being as good as the animated series. Here is your discussion thread where we shall discuss the best episodes, the best villains, and anything TAS(The Animated Series) related.

Please keep spoilers in spoiler tags as a safety measure.

He should have been The Joker in "The Dark Knight." The fact that they went with Heath Ledger instead made me die a little inside. (Not that Heath didn't do an exemplary job with the roll himself)

I liked the series before the last two seasons, with the new style. Didn't seem like quite the same show after that, even though it was the same team that worked on it. The Joker seemed more cartoony than ever. And they undid the closure with Mr Freeze and Poison Ivy. Granted, Poison Ivy's closure could be considered barely that, but I felt it was closure. Likewise, Harley Quinn was almost out of Arkham at the end of the original run. And the biggest problem I had with the last two seasons, it seemed like it went in a moodier direction, what with the creation of Nightwing and them bringing in a 12-year-old Robin.

So yeah, I hold the original running (with the larger budget) in much higher regard.

As much as I enjoy Joker, I'm more impressed by Riddler's...well..RIDDLES!

Oh, by the way, all...

http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Complete-A ... 025&sr=8-6

I'm so very tempted. If Amazon.com would let me use both this American Express gift card and my debit card, I'd get it. But the gift card doesn't have enough money by itself, so I'm out of luck.

one of my favorites was the episode where mr. freeze helped some other dude turn like himself in exchange for his wife.
then, when the world is at stake, helps batman & robin destroy his protected city and the world freezing machine

the end where he's sitting alone with his wife was so touching :)
Made even better when they follow up and give Mr Freeze the proper conclusion in Sub-Zero. Made worse when the series was revived and they
turned him into a frozen guy who lost his body and started to destroy everything because he couldn't see his wife anymore.
Although it was more forgiveable once I saw the new conclusion to his story in Batman Beyond. Next to Harley, he was definately one of my favorite villains of the show, due to him being the trajic villain.

Remember the one where a mobster hires the Riddler to get Batman's cape and cowl? And then at the end
we find out that the gangster was really Batman, and that he was just f*cking around with the Riddler for kicks?
That one was MESSED. UP.

Yeah, I remember that one, but it wasn't the Riddler. Was just some generic crook. :P

No, I'm fairly certain it was the Riddler.

I'd say it could have been the Clock King, but it just does not seem to be his hat to mess around with Batman on purpose. The Joker is simply too unstable and (let's face it), not another mans shill. Other than those three, I can't think of any other Batman villain that would be in the market to pull such a stunt.

**EDIT** A quick check of wikipedia turned up this:
The Cape and Cowl Conspiracy" Josiah Wormwood 031 Frank Paur Elliot S. Maggin April 30, 1993
Summary: Baron Jozek, furious at Batman for humiliating him at a dinner party (over Jozek's underworld connections), hires Josiah Wormwood, a master in setting traps for his victims, to hunt down Batman and bring back the hero's cape and cowl.

Well, I was wrong. Let it never be said I don't admit defeat when presented with credible evidence contrary to my original belief.
