There were plenty of women there, only I took few pictures with them. I took few pictures, period – don't like pictures. The few I took happened because of alcohol.

Not everyone wears a tie with a button-down. I don't wear a tie if I can help it.

Long answer: It's basically that was our graduation party. Before that was the graduation itself.

So we had to wear suits for 4 or 5 hours of speeches and congratulations and certificates and such, all cramped in a gymnasium with no air conditionated (there were a few fans not pointing at us, yay), 60 something people graduation plus a couple hundred friends + family.

And then we still had 8 or 9 hours of party to go.
So yeah, suits were off the moment we stepped in the party house. Also the pictures are from the VIP room, roomy and with air conditionated, but the dance floor itself was cramped with 600 people and you couldn't not sweat your lunch off.

Short answer: it was hot as f*ck.

Well to both of you, I understand the idea of not wearing ties with a dress shirt and I also understand taking off the tie after the formal section of the night, but what struck me was that there was a lot of white shirts without ties. Usually at least in the US, one doesn't wear a white shirt without a tie formally (even if they do wear color or patterned shirts without a tie formally) and even if they wear a tie with a white shirt by the end of the night they still don't usually take it off, but rather just loosen it. I've seen pictures of South Americans in black pants and white shirts with no tie, so I thought maybe that might have been the style.

I've never heard of this habit of not taking off a tie when you're wearing a white shirt. But then again, I'm young and the people I know are also young and we wouldn't care if we knew of this, I think.
White shirt and black pants are just really common. You also see a lot of striped blue shirts.

I actually like the look of white shirts without a tie and black pants and I think I look pretty good in it, but the problem in the US is that you do that and too often you look like the caterers or the wait staff servers so someone might ask you to bring them more napkins.

Eh, I wear white shirts with no ties and black pants. It is pretty common here. As common as using it with a tie at least.
