Ok, so I have this new laptop, that doesn't have the necessary port to connect a dexdrive. I do have a usb to rs- 232 thingy that allows me to connect it to my laptop, but it doesn't recognize the hardware.
Before starting to look for a driver for it, has anyone gone through this and can recommend me of a driver I could download?
My computer knowledge is probably above average

you sometimes need two things.

one being software for the connector. i have a usb to dex drive connection thingy and it came with the software to use it.

the second is of course the archaic software for the dex itself. it spends half its time not recognizing itself so dont be alarmed if this is whats happening with you. put a mem card in it and keep trying, resting your computer, and hopefully youll get it working.

I've had used my dexdrive before. But not on my laptop. I didn't actually buy the conector. I think insultobot gave it to me with the dexdrive (thanks again man!). I never bothered with it since I didn't need it on the computer.

ive had the stupid thing not work for a week, only to have it work when i didnt really need it. its a piece of crap, but one we need.

Yeah, thankfully Insult recommended me the connector so I could use my dex.(thanks again man!)

The piece of hardware that my laptop doesn't recognize is the conector, not the dexdrive. The dexdrive is working just fine.

You need a serial port for the Dexdrive.

That's what my laptop doesn't recognize. I treid downloading a software to make it work, but I got a message saying that it might mess up my laptop, since it doesn't have Microsift's digital signature or something like that.
So I guess I'll end up buying a new one after all.

i bought that cord myself then i brought it back. just buy a different brand.
