Whatever happened to Thanksgiving, anyway?

Can't make money off it, so forget it?

Anyway, in this topic, why don't we relate our memories of Thanksgivings' past and what you want to do for this upcoming one?

Every Thanksgiving my parents and I would go over to another family's home and hang out with them for Thanksgiving. Now that I'm married, my wife is interested in hosting Thanksgiving at our place. To be honest, either way is fine with me, but going over to my parents' friends' house would be a lot less house-cleaning to deal with...so yeah. I really like Thanksgiving though.

We would go over to my Aunt's house. I have many aunts and uncles and cousins. The living room and dining room would be filled with people at kids tables and adult tables. We would watch football on TV early, eat, and then the male cousins would play football in her big back yard afterwards.

I loved having thanksgiving there. Recently we try to meet up at my brother's house with his daughters, my sister in law, and her side of the family.

Well, generally Duel's got it. I go to my grandparents house (on my mother's side) and meet up with people related to me that I haven't seen it just about a year and we eat quite a large sum of food. I think I do the best job at ridding the house of pumpkin pie though...

In the past, we'd stay home and eat some nice smoked turkey. This year, I don't know what I'm going to do.

Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November. It's the 27th this year.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. Our family (on both sides) are, shall we say, hermits. We rarely see each other. So I always delight in getting to see my various uncles, grandparents and relatives. The only other day we meet is Christmas Eve, which is my favorite day of the year.

My family (especially on my mother's side) are wonderful cooks, so the food is always delicious. We usually split the table into two halves, so each group gets a certain amount of food (ie, each part gets a bundle of olives, bread and cranberries). It's always great fun to try and get stuff 'across the border'.

Hey... don't the travel industries make money off from thanksgiving?

Which I'm sure they are thankful for.

Well, Christmas music and items already adorn most stores. Guess it'll be Christmas soon?

I really have a problem with that. It's not even Thanksgiving yet. Even my town has decorated for Christmas. And I don't mean like the people of town, but the city decorations are already up on all the light polls and such.

Impatient much?

Christmas is fast approaching, and I pulled out my Christmas tree.

However, not to put it up.

To throw it away.

Took you long enough. I haven't had a Christmas tree in years.
