I got hit by a virus called Win32/agent.y.

It's something new, apparently. My cousin does this as some work and he'd never seen it. Be sure to update your anti-virus protections!

And don't use AVG, because it wanted to delete my entire HD damn near.

It's actually roughly a year and a half old.

Most people should already have the definitions for this.

I use Avast. Which is actually perfered over AntiVir (aka Luke Filewalker). It's seemed to do a very good job of keeping everything out.

There was this one time I did get a virus from an EXE that required me to format. But luckly my hard drive with my OS only has my OS on it, so I lost nothing in the format. I kept the exe... you know, if I ever wanted to screw with someone's compy, say like an old room mate who screwed you over $700. Too bad I don't have a way to get him to run it.

Anyway, Avast is a very trustworthy Anti Virus. It's not free if for business use, but they actually give you free home use. You have to register and they'll give you an activation code. Very cool of them.

I seem to remember this. It must have poped up in on of the searches F-secure made. Seriously, what ever you are using get this one. If a virus gets in to your computer, this thing WILL take care of it. (and no I don;t care WHAT you have it WILL cake care of it) It's like I got some russian mobsters and yakuza that were trained by Delta Force elite shock troops protecting my computer! :)
