Nostalgia, for one. Plus it'd be fun to see how close you can get to succeeding. *recalls one guy who was attempting to port the original Grand Theft Auto to NES* However, cases like these, the intention is clearly just attempts at pirating. The effort is very minimal.

Personally, I'd love to someday attempt Final Fantasy VII on the NES. And I assure you, I'd do a much better job than this hack:
