Why isnt this series dead yet?

I liked the trailer, but still... why can't the series be just a little less futuristic these days?

The red headed pig-tail girl caught my attention. The male looks like a young Seifer knock off, the the main character kind of bores me.

What will sell it, is if the battle system still sucks. The last good battle system was in 10.

Also, not even a hint of the main FF theme in here? Less epic considerably.

interesting. i will be waiting to see how the 360 plays before id buy it. im not one to jump out and buy a console just to play a certain game though if there was several good games...

i like the graphics of the newer games though the themes are a bit too futuristic for me. this is the direction games are going, we are just too old school i guess.

Oh yeah, I knew there was something else I wanted to state. This is looking like the most technologically advanced Final Fantasy to date. If you don't count FF8's Esther.

I'm really curious about the battle system. I'm assuming when I saw numeric damage and menu button on screen that it was, in fact, battle... but the action flowing in those clips pretty much matched the action of the cut scenes...
